The only thing I didn't like when I had them on for daily driving was they are very sticky and will pick up small gravels and a lot of dirt then sling it off. With the stock TA rims, they'll be tucked inside the well enough so you don't have to worry about it scratching the paint on the side of the car, but it hits the inner wells a lot and the noise gets annoying after a while (to me at least)

noise....eh......i like loud music, my concern with that would be excessive wear.:(

This is a major problem people over look, especialy if your wheels have a good amount of offset. The leading edge of my ground effects, front fenders and rear bumber have pretty much been completly sand blasted from the Nittos. Luckily it's all plastic. I would suggest getting some 3M Scotchcal plastic protectant with a new set of Nittos.

If your wheels are pretty much inside the wheel wells you will be fine. But, in my case I have a 44mm offset that puts my tires right at the inner edge of the fender on all four corners. I figure it's a small price to pay for good traction and most people really don't notice it. ALthough, on a dark car it would stick out like a sore thumb.

Check out this pic. Look just behind the front tire, that will give you an idea of how noticable it is. http://nitrousfedmuscle.com/images/IM017800.jpg

nice car Gm. Transam686 if you want better traction you should get the bfg 255's instead of nittos. They cost a lil more and dont last as long but I hear they grip a lot better. Plus im not satisfied with my nittos

really why is that?
I am looking for an application which will grip for a track run , but is usable for a street race.

I have the Nitto 555 Extreme Performance- on a nearly stock car I got a 2.0 60' time, and I suck at launching... they grip well on the track and street and you won't have those rock/dirt flinging problems. Oh, and you can get 15,000+ miles on them if you don't go to the track all the time.

are you able to launch well on the street when u have a verter?

I have 275/40/17's 555R rears and 555RII's on the front of my car. I couldn't be happier. I have more power than the 275's can handle on the street but that is good because it keeps the abuse off the rear end. The 555RII's on the front rock too. :D

Usually doesn't matter on the street, they have to many oils on them. I have about 410rwhp though so that could be part of it.

I have had good luck with the Nitto DRs, I did take them off in the cold weather though, they got way too hard & lost all grip. They were good in the rain, when they were newer, but as they show wear, be more careful. Normally on the street, I could just punch it and it pretty much hooked, but that is with only 300 rwhp.
