Help me build a system!

My car is going thru the replacement monsoon speakers like its it's job. So i'm looking to replace the speakers in the early summer after i start back up work. What are some good (better than monsoon sound quality and durability) speakers that i can replace the existing components w/? Also, will a JL 10w3 in a stealth box give a decent about of bass? What kind of amp will I need? Will I NEED a new head unit?

im running a JL W3v2 and only pushing about 180 watts RMS to it and it sounds damn good. nice, clean, tight bass.

Boston Acoustics components and midrange (blistering highs, strong midrange)...alpine 5 channel amp and a 10 inch sub in the rear well enclosure. you dont have to change your deck if you dont want to, but you will have much more control over how your speakers sound. i ran a stock head unit for a couple of weeks after i installed my bostons, amp and sub. i got a new head unit and my speakers sound so much better. just my $.02

The JL sub will be nice... I have two 12" Kicker L7's with a JBL1200 watt amp, and it hits hard. If you are looking for a good amount of bass but not outragous, Id go with that JLw3 and 200-600 watt amp(600 watt just incase you wanted to add more later). For speakers go with Focal... They are the best damned things out there. And I would get a new HU, its just eaiser.

I've got a freind that will sell me his Eclipse head unit (don't kno the model off the top of my head, but he said it's pretty much the 'top of the line' eclipse HU).

Would that 600 watt amp be just for the sub? or would that be able to power the speakers as well? or do i even need to amp the speakers? How much do the Focal speakers cost roughly? i've heard of these before ... but have never actually heard them in person.

head into Car Toys. They sell Focals. They cost about as much as Bostons, and they sound bad ass. If you buy high end speakers like that, you will need to amp them because the head unit will not be able to power them to their full effect, and they will not sound as good.

Why did u go w/ the kicker R6's in the back as opposed to doing all Focal speakers?

I heard great reviews about the Kickers R6s and mostly your sound is gonna come from the front components so I just decided to get some decent speakers in the back since I will barely hear them. But even with the R6s the system sounds great.

Ya.... right now my rear speakers arne't even workin b/c the channel on my Monsoon HU is shorted :think: .... I'm lookin for the R6's online. Are they the K series or the DX series?

Did you completely take out the speakers in the hatch area? or just leave those stock?

The R6s is under the Resolution section its not in either the K or DX series. I just left the stock monsoon speakers in the back and just disabled them. So I have the front components and the R6s in the sail panel and thats it.
