i was at a friends last night and she told me about the '72 chevelle that is in her garage that belongs to her dad...her dad was sleeping so i didnt get to talk to him about it but my friend said that her dad wants $6500 for it...heres what i could notice about it. it was red with 2 white stripes, white vinyl interior it had cowl induction and im not sure if it had a 454 or a 350 in it but it had chrome crager SS wheels and it had SS badging on it...not sure if its a real SS or not but i have talked to four o two and im gonna give him the VIN# and hes gonna tell me about it but tell me what yall think about it. the paint was in great condition, the seats , being white, had some marks and tears on them but thats easily fixed. im not sure of the condition of the engine but i do know it has around 50K on it and it does run. its a automatic also but tell me what yall think about this car and if it sounds like its worth getting. i looked on ebay and '72 chevelles in good condition were selling for a lot of money so thats what im hoping to do with this so i can buy another LS1...but who knows mayb ill keep it :drive: but just tell me what yall think and thanks
o yea ill try and get some pics next time im over there

Things to check for being a true SS (can't tell by the vin on these years)
rear sway bar with boxed lower control arms
round dash guages, does not have to be a tach setup
SS badging, and a SS in the middle of the rear bumper
SS on the door panels
12 bolt rear end
disk brakes in front
3/8 fuel line
These are a few things to look over in case the build sheet is not available.
One thing to keep in mind is the 72's had the base engine with the SS option as a 350, big block optional. Pluse a column shifter is standard with a bench seat.
If the car is in good shape, $6500 is not a bad deal at all.

do all of those have to be on it for it to be a true SS because it has all of that except for the round guages...it had a rectangle guage and it doesnt have a bench seat it has a split seat with a center console and all of that

''rectangle guage '' is not a SS
There are lots of clone cars out there, especially 69 Camaros. Basically all the parts exist to make a 72 look like a real SS, but the little details that only sage car guys know off the top of their heads are what to look for. Get lots and lots of pics before you buy, and don't overpay for a clone, no matter how clean it is.
