Anyone have any ideas on making the rear interior light red? I have the gel things in all three interior lights. However, after about a week, the heat of the bulb removes the color. Thanks guys.

PM Constrictor, he may have some ideas for you
what kind of "gel things" are you using, I have used "RoscoLux" #26 and #27 in different cars, and have had no fading, unless it contacts the bulb itself.
This gel is designed for 1000 watt theatrical lamps, and takes the abuse from them.

have you tried inserting plexiglass in front of the bulb?
I don't know, just a thought

Red magic marker on the bulb. I've doing it for years on radio light bulbs to match the display with my dash lights.

I paint the bulb itself, not the plastic around it, and I've never had a problem. Now granted I'm dealing with smaller bulbs, but they stay on all of the time. I don't think there would be any problem at all. The best part about it, if you don't like the look, or overall turnout, Just get a dab of paint thinner, take it off. Also if you go to ur local hobby/crafts store. You can find glass stain in assorted colors. It's a more permenant soloution with very good heat tolerances. I have yet to have a problem with the marker. If the bulb is really bright I've also used tester's paint (the scale model paint) with great results

The above is a picture of an alpine cda 9898, it has 6 individual bulbs. I painted each bulb with a liberal coat of red testers paint using a brush. It's so hard to take a good, accurate picture of lights, but using the ac panel as a comparison, u can see that even with the coat of paint, the brightness is just fine. I did this a few years ago, & the radio is still in use today with no problems.
any theatrical lighting supply store will have it, or equilivent, Lee makes it as well, as does many other companies, should be under $10 for a 20" by 24" sheet.
If you can't find any local, i can get it, and ship it to you.
