Truck that big.

That much torque.

Even though it's a 14 bolt FF, it has a G80.

You're gonna drag race it.

I got $10 on your carrier breaking first :D

I always though a 3500 was just a 2500 with duel rear wheels. Obviously it's not though. So what's the difference?

It's all confusing these days.... GM whacked it all out again for 2004.

From what I understand, the 04' 3500 SRW is the same thing as a 2500HD with heavier springs and I *THINK* brakes, and the 3500DRW is that with dual wheels. ...

I haven't seen an 04' 3500 up close yet so I really can't say for sure.....

3500 SRW is brand new for this year. Ford has been selling them for awhile now. It is a 2500HD with heavier rear springs, and stronger wheels and tires.

Awesome to see another Duramax owner. Those things are badass. If I were to ever get a diesel, it would be a duramax.

Didn't they up the tq and hp for '04 models? Is there a huge difference between the 502 and the duramax? I figure you guys would know without me having to look.

The 8.1L is more powerful stock, but it is far easier to make a 500rwhp Duramax than a 500rwhp 8.1L.

Oh and the "old" Duramax is 300HP/520TQ (LB7), and the new "LLY" version is 310HP/590TQ.

Just FYI: The 8.1 L is a 496, not a 502.

I knew it was one of the two, but 502 sounds better so I chose that :D

:werd: Fuel mileage on the Duramax is excellent compared to the 8.1 for very similar power though. I think it's like average 18mpg to 10mpg. Where the duramax lags in power compared to the 8.1, it makes up for it in torque :).

13's in the 1/4 with 7G's? Sounds impressive and expensive.

The LLY engines began shipping in Dec. of 03 so there are still some 04's with the LB7. The biggest thing they did was change the injectors. They are now mounted externally on the engine instead of internally. Apparently that was a big problem and has now been solved.

On the 2500/3500 question. The 3500 was just a 2500 with dual rear wheels and I believe beefed up rear suspension, therefore giving it a bigger payload capacity. The 2500HD is a 9200# GVW truck and the 3500 dually is an 11,400# GVW. The new 3500 single wheel is a 9900# GVW. So it's a good compromise between a 2500HD and a dually. It's perfect for someone that needs more towing and payload but doesn't want a dually.

McRat's truck is exactly the truck I would get if I had enough money.

Although I'd have to have about another $10,000 to make it how I really wanted it :D

I'd get that truck, get some cut-out flares, 4" Rancho lift, some 37x12.50 tires, RanchHand bumper replacement w/ 12,000-lb winch, front and read eLockers, rhino line the entire body complete with rhino-liner flame job, HID brights and dims then also 5 HID Daylighters on a light rack, and some HID fog lights ... then I'd also probably do a custom-skid plate package and swap a 55 gallon fuel tank in :D
