What is it like?
My stocker has to go. Its got nasty holes from drilling out the rivets for the license plate bracket.
I want to rip it out but I don't want that styrofoam and stuff showing (yes i know it says camaro back there).
So how easy are the replacement grilles to put in?
I'm kind of a klutz-it took me hours to put my shifter in.:help:
TIA

Not that bad just a little drilling required. Its comes with easy to follow directions. Also will have what I call pinetree pins come with it to hold it in place.

So I guess you just have to add new mounts?...

pull off the stocker, put the slp bowtie up in place and mark where the pins will have to go .... take the grille off and drill the holes. Then put the grille back in and put the pins in ... pretty easy .... somehow i managed to miss drill one hole:rolleyes: so i got an extra hole:mad:

Here's some notes I posted on some other board ;) after installing my SLP grille...
1. Before pulling out the stock grille I masked off the fascia around the grille with some of that blue 3M 2" masking tape to make sure nothing got scratched when I pulled the stocker off. Maybe a bit anal but I think it may of saved some small scratches when I pulled the side tabs out.
2. When removing the stock grille... First pull out the left and right tabs. They should come out easily. Now you can bend the sides of the grille out to peak in there to see how the rest of the grille is attatched. You'll see that there are 3 connection points across the top and 3 across the bottom. You may be able to get something in there to cut the remaining connectors - but I didn't try it since I didn't have anything that would reach in there.
3. After pulling out the side tabs, I pulled out the bottom left connector, followed by the bottom right connector. Finally I pulled out the bottom center connector. These three came out fairly easily, without too much pulling force.
4. Next, pull out the top 3 connectors in the same way - first pull the outside 2 connectors then the center. These ones were a bit harder to get out - they were secured with a plastic, bolt-like object proturuding from the stock grille. They required more force than the bottom connectors so don't be afraid to pull a bit harder on these.
5. When you pull out the tabs you will most likely hear pieces of metal fall inside the front fascia. To get them out, I used a magnetic pick up tool and was able to put the magnet under the fascia and move it around to pull the pieces of metal to the sides where I could get a finger in there to pull them out. Might want to put some kleenex or something between the magnet and fascia to avoid scratches.
6. I used a 1/4" drill bit as the instructions stated to drill out the holes for the new grille and I could not get the damn pins in no matter what - so I had to use a 17/64" bit instead and it worked out perfectly for me.
5. When drilling the holes - the top 2 middle holes just need to go through the fascia - but for the rest make sure you drill deep enough for the entire fastener to fit - some areas have styrofoam and others have more plastic behind them. Don't do what I did and just drill through the fascia, because you'll probably drill them all and pop the 2 top center pins in like I did and be like "WTF?" when the other 6 don't go in. Let me tell you pulling those pins back out is not fun. You are probably best putting a piece of tape on the drill bit to mark the length of the pins so that you will drill deep enough for the plastic pins to go all the way in.
Hope this helps.
