I am new to modding and was hopping someone could help me here. I want to start doing some engine modds but don't have a lot of cash (want to spend under 1000). I was looking to buy a motorcycle but my credit history ruined that :( so i am thinking about modding my 87 irocz now. Is there any decent modds you can do for under 1000? thanks for helping the newby!

get you some slp runners.....bbk throttle body and a lt4 hotcam if you have fuel injection...if carburated i would get a bigger cam,an edelbrock performer rpm intake and a larger carb......and some headers......then start beefing up the suspension with an adjustable torque arm ,panhard bar and lower control arms.......and definately some subframe connectors:2guns:

305 or 350? I assume its TPI since it is an IROC from 87.
If you wanted to make power, there are tons of things you can do. Porting the plenum is a very lost cost mod you can do yourself. Adjustable fuel regulators can help bump power, as can a good exhaust system.
As with most engines, you should start with exhaust like headers first.
A cat-back exhaust comes second.
If it's TPI, an intake manifold (like the Holley Stealth Ram or the Accel Super Ram which is street legal) and cam would work nicely together as third. (The intake manifold restricts the rpm level of the powerband, even with runners.)
