Did you have a problem ordering your car? I keep thinking back on this and get annoyed. I ordered my car in April 02. I wanted a SOM SS. When filling out the order I didn't think to specify what type of tranny I wanted. It didn't hit me till later, while in the middle of class I was looking over my order that had been submitted... that the dealer put in for an A4. Well I called ASAP to make him change it to an M6. He claimed he went in the system to change it.. and then he wasn't able to... the only option was the A4! -Don't tell me the dealer was giving me a line of bull, I've known this man for 10+ years, he'd do whatever he could to make me happy- Well after that he tried calling his main supervisor (region) for Chevrolet about it. What it boiled down to.. is they said they were out of M6 Trannys! Which sounds like a huge load of BS because I have seen many members ... with build numbers way after mine to have an M6... Did anyone else run into this problem.. or any thing like it?

FWIW, Our SOM M6 SS was built in July of 2002, and we bought it off of a lot in August of 2002. :)

exactly my point... so why wouldn't the options for an M6 shown up when he was ordering.. and even after when he talked to the chevy rep?
I don't get it
ordered my car December 01 and it came in April 02. I had to wait for dealer allocation before my order was submitted and accepted. My car did come in without the slp options I had ordered:( dealer screwup:mad:

It's possible at the time of your order the M6 tranny was not available. It happens all the time. I ordered a 98 Convertible bacK in November 97 and the order came back as not available at this time.I had to wait 6 months before I got it.

Sounds like a line of B.S. to me. The MN6 tranny in the F-body is the same one that they use in the Vette. So I doubt they were out of them.

They were probably out of trannies because they were too busy trying to replace the one I broke on my car ;) Does sound a bit fishy though...maybe they thought that since you are a girl, you wouldn't really question them. You know how guys can be...

yeah, it does sound weird.. but I do have my M6, just not the one I wanted :) I ended up with more SLP options than I would have on the one I did order.

I was just messing with you on the 6 speed thing! :) Here's a video of me from this past weekend. Keep in mind the track is only 1000' long (Arkansas is kinda messed up). The trap speed was 111.28mph.

How long after did you try to change it? I work at a GM assembly plant andI know once an order is placed it is put in the "system" and a computer makes sure that the vehicles are built to customer specs. Maybe your car was already in the system being built and would have cost the dealer too much to have GM change it. Just a thought.

Not the same deal, but I had tracked the WS6 on GM Buypower, and it had not been built, or delivered yet...It got caught up in customs hold on the Canadian/US border for 3+ weeks(remember 9/11?) as all international shipments were put on hols 'till late October...I was  wanting my car! :D
