Which vette will run faster? 02'-04' Z06 405 HP or C6 vette with 400 HP listed? Which car will have better dyno sheet? Current z06 can run high 11's with slicks or low 12's with good driver on street tires. They dyno 360-380 rwhp. Do you think C6 LS2 will dyno mor than that? I am thinking about buying a GTO with LS2 motor but I am contempting buying a current generation of z06. I have a LS1 TA now. :-)
we will have to wait and see. :D
But i think the LS2 will be a touch faster. And you never know, i think that the LS2 is going to be underrated. The new C6 will also be lighter (i think) so we will see my guess:
LS2>LS6 :D

They're probably going to be substantially the same, as far as straight line acceleration goes. The LS6 has a little more peak horsepower, while the LS2 has a little better torque curve and better tranny ratios.
Here's a little powerpoint thing that talks about the differences:

As for the LS2 in the GTO, it hasnt happened yet and I dont think its a sure thing for next year either. I know there was a press release saying that next year's GTO would have the LS2, but I also heard that GM later retracted that.

GTO currently has a LS1 in it but they are switching to LS2 for 2005 model year.

I guess the newer GTO will be running with (and sometimes running over) lower hp rated LS1s. An aftermarket cam has now become a necessity for my car. But I have also been thinking of a '03'04 Z06 upgrade.
The Z06 is slightly lighter than the C6, but the C6 should have a little more TQ, and there's always the chance the LS2 motor is underrated. I would expect the two cars to be very comparable in acceleration.
We should find out very soon. The plant was scheduled to open for full C6 production yesterday.

I heard the de-tuned LS1 in 98-02' F-bodies mean nothing. F-bodies dyno as much as a vette does.

The GTO is supposed to have the 400 hp LS2 in 2005.So I would assume that the new C6 will be rated higher(but underated) than the GTO.

LS2 in GTO will put down as much rwhp as the LS2 in C6 in my opinion. A F-body Ls1 put down as many rwhp as C5 did. However, C5 is faster because of the weight advantage. 3100 vs 3400/3500. GTO is 3800 car vs C6 3100 ish. 700 lbs are a lot my friend.

motortrend ran 12.7 @ 112 mph ... 0-60 in 4.3... in a C6... they can't drive ...meanwhile gmhightech ran 11.97 @ 118 mph in a stock Zo6...112 mph = 380 hp...they can't drive...118 mph = underated...
