View Full Version : Spare Wheel Well?

I'm currently in spring rennovation (tearing out interior, going to put sound deadening all over, etc)

Currently I have one amp (Kenwood KAC-X401M) mounted as such:

I'm adding another amp that's a bit smaller (Eclipse 36401) to drive front components and coaxials in the sail panel (rear will be disconnected).

I want to trim up some wood to use as mounting boards in the spare wheel well area. I don't think these amps will fit side by side so I'll have to "stack" them with space in between. I'll be mounting a Kenwood Keg in there as well (I don't need no stinking spare - that's what AAA is for! :P )

This will make the install much more stealthy (nothing like that bright blue LED on the Kenwood lighting up the back of the car when I don't have the deck cover in), and going for the "surprise sonic attack" when unsuspecting people jump in for a listen after seeing nothing in the car ;)

Looking for other ideas for stealth if anyone's got them.

Anyone else have more than one amp tucked away in this spot? Heat/ventillation problems? Pics? :D

I dont think it would be too much of a problem. Its not like the rear hatch of the F-body is air tight or anything. I know many people have put amps under the side panels (where the stock hatch speakers go) and havent had a problem.

I have two amps on my back wall side by side, but it looks like mine arent as big as yours. You might want to try redesigning your board.

If you relocate that distro box, you might be able to get them to fit....that all depends on the size of the second amp though.

I want it all to disappear from the t-top area ;)

I'll try to take pics as I go, but looks like it'll be late March before I get much time

you might beable to get both amps in there but that kenwood is gonna be a bitch getting in there. this is my older kenwood amp and it is tight fit.
