Getting a newer truck tomorrow, a 2000 Z71, and currently the truck has the stock 245's on there, and was just wondering if anyone had any experience trying to stuff 285's under there? My 94 Chevy has 285's on it, and got them under there by adjusting the torsion bars a tad, just wondering if the same could be done for the newer chevy's?

My truck has 285/50/20 on it, and theres no problem there. They're about 31.5 inches tall, and it's a stock height 2WD. Not sure if that helps you, but there you go anyways.

you'll have to trim the front dam with a hacksaw....it's really easy..
I have 315x12.5's on my 2001 silverado with a 3" body lift too

285/75R16 Michelin's
You'll lose a decent amount of power and gas mileage though. :\

I like my 265's better than 285's FWIW, and I still lost some juice off the line. Mine are 265/75/16

I'm running 285's and they never rub, the speedo is damn close, and the gas mileage isn't a noticable difference. If anything you get a bit better on the highway because the wheel travels a bit further with each rotation. I'm obviously not trying to race everyone at every stoplight, and if it a 2000 Z71... you won't either. I recommend BFG's... mine are Mud T/A's, but All terrains are a great choice if you don't want this aggressive look. Mine have very little road noise and they are very close to the All-terrains in price.
