i posted this on wheels/tires, but thought i'd post here it as well.
i'm tired of my 32 year-old, heavy steel SS rims on my Chevelle. i'd really like to buy some 'SS' style rims, but i want a chrome, not a polished finish. American Racing's Torque Thrust II's are nice, but just come in polished, right? The chrome Torque Thrust D's are EXPENSIVE! (like $250 each for a 14"!)

in case you're wondering what kind of wheel i'm talking about, think Mustang Bullitt, but of course without the Pony centercap and a bolt pattern for Chevy, not Ford.

what is another rim 17" or bigger that has the classic SS style? i've seen KMC's SS wheel, but it's only advertised for trucks/suvs, plus i can't find a dealer anywhere.

i'd like to go w/ 18" if possible. i can spend about $2,000 on them (incl. tires). i think 18" with fat tires would set the velly off nice! you guys got any suggestions?

American Racing series 605 is the only style wheel like this that AR has. It's the special edition Torque Thrust wheel and is chrome plated. Largest size for a Chevelle is 15x7 I believe.

don't get me wrong, they're nice, but i'd like something bigger. and if you don't like it, oh well. i just had my factory wheels powdercoated a grey-ish silver, because the genius who had the car before me had the great idea of spray painting them black. i'll get some pics up here sometime, maybe a before/after.

i'd like to get some nice chromies, so i could stick some ET drags on the ones i have now for the track. ;)

also, do you have any idea on what fits?

15by8 i was runnin a 28-11.5 ET street's. it would rub alittle just enough to pull the powercoat off the frame. i had my outer lip cut about a 1 1/4''....

on the front :giveaf: smaller the better;)

sorry, but i don't like the 'dragcar' look everywhere i drive. there's just something about big tires in the back w/ skinnies in the front that screams 'redneck' to me.

big, fat, tall rubber on all 4 corners is ideal for street conditions.

I'm not a huge fan of it either. On some cars it looks ok but most it doesnt. Not knocking anyone but it's just not my thing.

Cragars man, I got 15x7s on mine, really go well with the car, Weld bought Cragar and now you can get forged versions in larger diameters.
