View Full Version : Kicking around the idea of trading in the GTO for a G8
I have a Trans Am and GTO. I need to get down to one car to buy a house and well..since im upside down on the TA and have equity in the GTO...i figure why not trade in both and get a new ride. Of course there is a serious lack of vehicles on the market that I would even remotely consider buying but the G8 is definitely one that caught my eye.
So i headed over to the dealership the other day and they tried their damndest to get me into a color that I didnt want.
I specifically want the Grey Metallic with Black Leather and a Sunroof. There are 18 total GT's in the Vegas Valley. Out of those NONE has a sunroof. You would think that they would have ordered more with the sunroof. They asked me if Id buy a grey one without a sunroof and theyd install and warranty one but I just dont want to risk having them do that...prefer factory installed.
They found one for me in Wyoming but wanted me to sign an agreement without seeing the car first. Not to keen on that idea frankly.
Anyway...there is one in Cedar City...about a 3 hour drive...wondering if I can go there and check it out. :hmm:

Wait for the 09 GXP if your dead set on dumping the Goat...
Yeah but i dont want to buy a car next year. I want to buy a house before the end of the year. I dont know how to drive stick anyway and that plus the little bit of added HP isnt worth the wait for me.

38 GTs in my area(25 miles). BTW, how much are they asking for GTs these days? How far under the MSRP are they willing to go? My lease is up in a few months and I just received an offer from GM to waive 2 payments and give me "$2K down payment" toward any car. I can also use $1k from my card. A GT for $26-27K would be nice.

How are you upside down on a Trans Am? They quit making those in 2002. How long did you finance it for? I like the G8 fwiw.

Wait.. you're upside down on your TA, so you're going to go lose more money and get a newer car? :boggled:
So im back on this kick. Was able to get into a Cadillac CTS after trading in the GTO and Trans Am...but ive been having nothing but problems with it and with the current incentives on the 09 G8 GTs im thinking its the right time to go for it. Currently working the finance and sales manager to see what they can do for me...trying to keep the payments low. Super excited :nilly:

right there with you. Debating pulling the trigger on one, they are damn near giving them away right now. Only problem I have is the HORRIBLE resale.
I ended up buying a Sport Red Metallic over the weekend. They are practically giving these things away. Go for it dude.

My wife wants a G8 bad. The down side is I am upside down in the truck and that is what would have to go for the car. The thing that concerns me is that GM is dumping Pontiac in a couple years, unless something changes.
