did you have to reuse the springs mounts that are on the shock its self?

I just replaced my stock DeCarbons w/ SLP Bilsteins - and yes, you need to transfer the lower spring mount.

thats what i thought when i pulled it out of the box. so it just slides off the old shock?

Mine was on pretty snug, so I just lightly tapped it off with a rubber mallet

The bottom should come right off and yes you need to reuse all the original hardware except for the shock itself. Also make sure you have the composite spring perches in proper rotation/alignment with the spring. If you haven't taken it apart yet beware the passenger side shock might be a little difficult.
