View Full Version : Who's waiting until 2005?

I'm not sure what I'll do. I'd like to get a GTO, preferably an 05, but the longer I wait, the less my WS6 will be worth as trade in. Anyone planning on getting an '04, or an '05? and why? :p

I was planning on an '05 when they first announced the '04. Sort of a sentimental thing as my Dad bought a '65. Just thought it would be neat to get a GTO 40 years later.

But the wait is killing me :) I'm half tempted to just get an '04 and mod it. Very easy to get the '05 power level. Plus I'm waiting to see if I really like the changes for the '05. If I don't, then it will be an '04 off the lot.

If I can score a killer deal on a 04, then I'll get that. Dealers will want to move out old stock, so there might be some really good prices. But if the 04 retain the "market adjustments" and dealers that won't deal, then I'll get the 05 with the LS2. I have found a soucre that will honor GMS, so I'll be using them to get the car.

I am. I need to get rid of the 2000 MonteSS Pace car first. THe lease is up in Feb 05. It will take some convincing to the wife since she thinks they look like a GP. I just need to get her behind the wheel of one. Hopefully it will bring back the memories of her first car a 1973 340 Duster.

I decided long ago to hold out hope of exterior change and wait on the 05. I'm glad I did, as there will be some nice exterioru changes for 05.

I simply could not get excited about spending the money for the 04. The bonus in waiting for the 05 will be the 50 extra ponies.

JCS,
You got the wrong guy. I have never...nor will I ever, make reference to what a member of the female gender wants, desires, or wishes as it relates to my selection/purchase of an automobile.

I cringe when I see others divulge that they are on approval lockdown from a member of the female gender.

Not me - you have definitely confused your posters.

Jeff,
Yeah the GA was my choice. Never regretted it.

JC,
There are quite a few deranged types at the Site you mentioned that fit the description you identified. They are a strange bunch.

As much as I like the new GTO and what they will be doing to it I would never trade either of my Bird for it.But if I won the lotto and had a three car garage I would.

I'm waiting for 2005 as well. I can't wait for some more info to leak out. I hope they still have Barbados Blue.

I just saw that today. Not happy, but what can I do? I have no idea what colour to get now.

My $.02 - if you going to modify the car - buy the LS1, it won't take much to get that thing cranking 400HP. If you're jsut going to do bolt-ons or leave it stock, the LS2 is the way to go.

OR - if your like me, I'm going to get the LS2 and rip the motor out of it and modify the living HELL OUT OF IT! :D

Color wise, late build '04s offer different interior combinations Blue/Blue - Red/Red - those would be the ones to buy.

Price wise - they are giving the 2004's away now...

Maybe the new Vespers blue will be similar.

I have thought about a GTO.. If I do get one it would be a 2004 M6.. I saw a used the other day going for 28,000 with 2k miles on the clock... The 04 value is going to drop like a rock once the 05 hits the street...

$28k isn't too bad. You can buy a new one for a little over $29k. I think we have our blue/blue m6 advertised at $29,450.

I've got a black/black 6 speed with 1400 miles. Make me an offer on it if you're interested in it Joel.

Since you are a dealer, I have to ask... are dealers going to be going for MSRP + on the 2005???

Jeffro
08-05-2004, 06:11 PM
It's hard to say. I know that we will not ask more than MSRP for ours and we will probably discount them.

Take a depost on the Odessy (SP?) M6??? :D
How long before they arrive?

Jeffro
08-05-2004, 06:22 PM
Sure man. Build date as of today is the week of 9/13. I'm guessing that late December/early January would be when it arrives. The yellow one may get here sooner because it's in the system as a sold order under my name.

Not sure if I will buy it or not. I'm just gonna have to drive it and make sure. But, if someone wanted it, I'd let them buy it and just order another one if I really liked it.

I'm a long way from TX, but it would make a nice ride home :D I bought my SS 3 states away, but January might be too early for me...

Gotta do some figuring

Morpheus, I am not in the market now.. Next year when the TA is paid off, I will be looking at getting into another M6 LS1.. I am thinking GTO, or just getting a M6 Camaro... Right I am leaning towards an GTO..

I am gonna wait and see what the 05 has to bring...according to a bunch of ppl there is a "Judge" coming out next year which would be tight as all hell and I would buy it in a heartbeat

You're trading in your WS6 for a GTO?

If you're doing it for the "new car" experience I guess I can understand that, and I'm not ripping on the GTO but don't you think 5, 10, or even 20 years down the line you might be kicking yourself for getting rid of a vehicle that is no longer produced? Surely you enjoy driving your WS6, don't you?

That being said, if I had the extra cash and was in the market for a GTO I'd definitely wait for the '05.

I'm planning on buying my mom's 04 GTO when the spring rolls around. It was just delivered last week. Impulse Blue with black leather and A4. It's pretty quick as it is, but it will really wake up with a sleeper H/C package and a nice 3500 stall TC. ;) :D

With all the rebates and deals, I almost went for a 04, but the added HP hooked me in!

I'm now doing the "waiting game" - my Phantom/Red is due December/January.

I'm waiting till 05 to consider one - if they'd only offer it in the new Daytona Sunburst Orange, I'd get one in a second. :(

I told my friend to go for the 2005. But he came back from a dealership with a price of $26K for a 2004 after year end rebates, etc. At that price, he can take the '04, and mod the shit out of it and get more than 400HP. Plus still have cash left over to pay insurance!

If you can get a good deal on an '04, go for it. The $6k you save vs. the '05 model will surely be put to good mod use.
