GM is considering it. I hope they build it cuz that's fucking sweeeet!

Disclaimer: This thread has a class rating of 4. It's classiness is not Quadcammer approved.

it never went away; americans just stopped making it. G37, 335 coupe, and hell, an accord V6 coupe. the G37 and 335 run 13's, and the accord V6 runs low 14's but traps north of 100.

and on the high end, the M6, CL63, etc.

It did go away, none of the above are "large".

Start paying attention a little better - the Accord coupe is a MIDSIZE (even under today's dwarf-car definitions of "midsize"), and the 3-series is roughly the same size as a G6. The M6 is classified as a SUBCOMPACT by the EPA.

Riveras, Eldorados, Thunderbird Turbo and Super Coupes, Toronados, Lincoln Mark VIII, Grand Nationals (although at the time it was first built, the Regal/Monte Carlo/Grand Prix/Cutlass platform was considered a midsize) etc... LARGE cars.

with the exception of the GN, all of the cars you just mentioned suck horribly :Picard:

anyway, i also mentioned a CL63. have you been in a CL? they're a pretty darn big coupe; they're a 2 door S class, which I cannot imagine is listed as a midsize by the faggot epa.

Fucking A that's what I want.

A big, fast, tomb-quiet, super-comfortable, AMERICAN personal luxury car, instead of some vinyl-clad, too stiff, uncomfortable, short wheelbase, overpriced and dolled-up European shit box that's barely bigger than a Cobalt.

Crawl back under the rock of automotive ignorance from whence you came - and go back to sucking the vinyl-clad shift knob on some Bayerische MistWagen while you're at it.

The CL63 is an over-priced little turd of an automobile.

Exactly.

The Cadillac's wheelbase?

130", and that wasn't even the REALLY big one, which clocked in at 150"... now remember, this was well before anybody thought it was a super-spiffy idea to move the wheels to the corners.

The current DTS has a 116" wheelbase, just over a foot longer that the MB you listed.

Physics is a cruel mistress, and no matter what technology you use, starting from a longer wheelbase gives a smoother ride.

So, you go ahead and give rim-jobs to cars you are never going to own in the idea that it somehow confers prestige.

Oh, and btw...

How many Eldorados and Rivieras have you owned? How many have you actually driven? Ever plopped your ass in a 1959 Eldorado Convertible and drove that baby around? I'll bet not.

Furthermore, are you seriously going to tickle us with the idea that you're going to run out and buy a CL63 AMG? If I remember correctly, weren't you drooling over a stripped, vinyl seat 3-series, USED?

(Actually, and just being honest here, if somebody is brain-dead enough to unload north of $40,000 on a Cavalier-sized BMW, the smartest thing they can do is buy one that's used - so some other jackass takes the gigantic two-year depreciation hit).

BTW - the top pic of the interior is hilarious. And people used to bag on GM for making gigantic black plastic interiors... at least GM never charged in the neighborhood of 6 figures when they were doing it.

One thing I don't quite with high end cars is the use of wood, IMO I want to know I'm driving a machine, not a tree. (which is why they still have non-wood packages since many peps feel the same as me) Also, who cares if its actually real wood or not? Its always coated so thick with plastic/epoxy that you can't actually feel the difference, so if it looks the same whats the difference?

no i'm not going to spend the money on a CL63 right now. and i was NEVER looking at a used 3 series :boggled: i've been looking at NEW, LOADED 335's. as i said, you have me confused with someone else. i own a C6 at the moment, btw. (loaded. with leather.)

I don't think so. Look at the price point. The coupe will probably be priced in line with the G8 GXP sedan which will probably be around $35k. It will be priced lower than the CTS coupe, which will undoubtedly be priced well over $40k.

On topic, this would be a good move on Pontiac's part. While I'll probably never foam at the mouth for any Pontiac, this is far better than the crap they've churned out over the past decade. The 2004-06 GTO is still their best offering in recent years (in my opinion).

I think all they have to change up is the upper dash material (on GTO its a spongy material, G8 its hard) and I can't remember what the G8 has, but the material on the pillars and headliner on the GTO are nice. The GTO still has hard lower dash plastic. I would argue that the radio/HVAC/center console/steering wheel controls on the GTO still needed some improvement.

Slap in a factory navigation unit and some better HVAC knobs, and you have a winner. Honestly, the Pontiac GTO was a great car for the money if you wanted some American muscle with a splash of quality.

It had style, you just had to look hard and long at it to find it...and when you found it, it was a few years old. Had the 05-06 GTO body style come out in 98-00 it would have been received a lot better.

The Vibe is not a turd. It's a fairly inexpensive small wagon that has great reliability. We rarely see Vibes coming in for anything other than routine maintenance.

If you rate a Grand Am and a Sunfire over a Vibe, you need to do some more research.

Pretty much. I've never cared for the digital gauges and the back end of the CL isn't my favorite - frankly it's too plain for a car of that stature - but both that and the S are amazing vehicles.

You could sell the C6 and get an early 00s used CL500 and probably have some cash left over to put towards wheels.

Its understandable.

It has a pretty small back seat, the front is fine but not OVERLY big.

And since the designations go by interior volume guess it makes sense.

my 93 tbird was ~ 3900lbs and was one of the lightest SC's ever made (93 being the lightest year and mine was a stripper, no leather, moonroof, etc... only thing lighter would have been a stripper 93 5 speed) they were fast for being a V6 and no one suspected them...

Oh I'm sure it will, I actually prefer it not to have the scoops. Which is somewhat ironic because I have a WS6 and liked the look of the 05-06's GTO's. I think without the scoops the hood flows better with the lines of the car. Would be nice to have a scoop delete, but consdering the GTO had it and not many people deleted, that probably won't be available.

Design for automobiles peaked in the 60's.

Common knowledge that when the epa and DoT have as much say in the design of your vehicle as the manufacturer, your artistic freedoms are limited.

And the Ford GT was an absolute smash.
The 1969 Camaro was arguably one of the best looking pony cars ever made. So much so that new shells have been retooled because they are that in demand.
Now that you have been shown beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are undeniably wrong, go back in the corner and make yourself useful by making me a pizza.
