How strong is the rear end in the G8's? Are we going to hear horror stories of people shattering them with sticky tires like the factory 10 bolts in the F-bodies? I've been wondering about this.

i dont know that its the strongest out there but cant say i have heard of many if any breaking as the mods list gets more serious , and we are talking in the 11's and some 10 second cars.
info on the diff -
At the rear, an all-new aluminium cased ZF differential is used with a 8.3 inch crown wheel (up from 8 inches in the GTO). An upgraded multi-plate clutch type LSD is fitted to the Zeta V8 and optional on other models equipped with sports suspension.
The ZF differential is stronger and lighter than the differential fitted to Pontiac GTO. It's driven by a one-piece driveshaft and transfers the torque to the multi-link IRS shared with the VE sedans. This system is more sophisticated than the semi-trailing arm system specified for the GTO and is not subject to the same degree of camber change during cornering, also Double-isolated rear differential reduces axle whine
