The navigation thing doesn't bother me, but the not having a 6 spd. right now does.

They really ought to offer it, but it wouldn't stop me from buying the car if I were in the market.

I could care less if they offered it. I wouldn't option it with it anyway.

Seriously, what the fuck GM? Are you TRYING to go backwards while everyone else goes forwards?

What's Pontiac had that's really impressive?
Nothing, since 2002. You say Pontiac and most people instantly think of a tobacco-chewing mullet-sporting redneck in a Burt Reynolds Bandit.
Sort of funny, because wasn't it Lutz who said they wouldn't be bringing the Firebird back because Pontiac was going to be GM's BMW competitor division, and the Firebird didn't have the "upscale appeal" they wanted associated with Pontiac? :spit:

Don't be ashamed. Be proud of your snobbery. You have expensive taste, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Right now if you buy a NEW car, and spend close to $30,000 it would be utterly retarded not to come with a navigation system... That IMHO though..Its a nice feature to have, that in most scenarios also includes BUILT IN Satellite Radio..which is also NICE..

i've become so cheap of late that if i wouldn't get shit for it, i'd buy a yaris with no options and drive it until the wheels fall off :bwahaha:

Seriously what are we back in 6th grade? I have to have those $150 Air Jordan's because if I have a $40 Reebok, everyone will make fun of me. Reminds me of my 13 y/o brother in law who HAS to have $80 ripped Hollister jeans.
Buy what you want because you fucking want it, not because you need validation from shallow people.

See thats my thought .... if i buy a car over 30k ... it has to have nav period.
I COULD even settle for maybe puting it in myself.
That being said .... they supposedly didnt add it because of US regulations. I wonder how much it would be then to just buy one from Australia for the commodore then install it yourself.
But then i'd lose the sat radio

i'd be curious as to the age and income bracket of the people saying this stuff to me. my guess is early 20's and under 50k.
it's a little different when you're older, depending on the income level of your peers. if you had a friend who made good money, yet lived in a dilapidated single wide trailer out in bumpkinville for $200/mo, wouldn't you wonder what the fuck was wrong with him? yeah, it wouldn't stop you from being his friend, but you would wonder why the hell he didn't get himself a better place. it's sort of the same thing with cars

One on hand I would love to have Nav in the car that I don't have to move around from car to car but it is a very expensive option.
I ended up with a Garmin but I do have to move it from car to car, take it out of the car, recharge it, etc.

The design of the dash didn't fit the US Regulations for Navigation units. IT is kind of stupid too since the car was designed for the US in mind. Thankfully a dash is easy to update after a year or two.

:werd: ... its just like why they dont have a manual.
I mean ... i really do understand why they didnt do it.
They have to see how well the car sells, etc. Cause your choices right now would be (if they had done it) ....
1) Add it to a bunch of cars and then have the GM problem of overloading their cars with stuff people dont want, driving up the price, lowering consumer wants.
2) Custom orders .... which being from australia would take quite a long time. And many wouldnt do it.
I'd imagine if it becomes a descent selling vehicle they will

And your guess would be wrong. Try late 20s and a fair bit more than your estimate.
Generally most of the older and more wealthy folks I know could care less about impressing others with their wealth. That tends to be a character trait exhibited more by the young and immature.
Ironcially when there was that thread about LS2 "ballas", the older guys who actually do quite well generally don't make a point of reminding you. It's the younger crew in their 20s, such as yourself and a couple other notable members, that do.

The only pass i give Berman on, is with his job, he does need to show a level of class when taking around partners or clients etc. And that i can understand.
With me its the reverse, I need to make sure my clients DONT think i make too much or they will give me less.

Well, I say this in the least conceited way possible but I would meet your baller criteria, and I consider myself the furthest thing from one. To me if you're making that salary range, one would be wiser to pay cash for a $35k new Pontiac (or $35k used E-class) than pony up to a 5 year note at 6.9% on a new M3 just because you need validation from others that you are successful. Some of the richest folks on the Forbes list drive the most mundane vehicles.
If a $35k car is as comfortable, as nimble, as fast, as reliable, as well built, as feature filled at a $70k car, the only difference being a badge and the inflated ego it brings, then the old saying about a fool and his money come to mind. And no, I'm not blind enough to think any Pontiac is worthy of mention along side a 3 series or 5 series. Offered them for the same price, I'd likely take the Bimmer every time. But to say I would ignore a potentially great car simply because my friends would laugh at me would mean I've got a pretty fragile ego.

I made it to age 39 without ever using a nav system. They're cool, but I can't justify the expense and would rather have go-fast goodies or the cash in my pocket.

Yup. I'd definately wait until the GXP comes out at the very least to see what the exact pricing is going to be. For that matter, I wouldn't drive a G8 in auto-trim so the GXP would be the only way to go.
It's just cool to see 300hp+ RWD cars still being made...whether by GM, Dodge, Ford, etc....

Fairly often actually .... again ... you decide suddenly you want to go somewhere, get sushi, or the other day i needed to go to go to kinkos from work. Worked great to find all the locations.
best is on road trips .... you are driving down the freeway, want to know what the fast food resteraunts coming up, it can detect food, gas, hotel along the route.
