This was sent to Rick's Hot Rod Shop (www.rickshotrodshop.com)

Dear Sir,

In August, I ordered one of your stealth tanks through my installer, Dynotune Performance Inc., for my 1998 Z28. I was assured that the tank would be the best thing going and there would be no issues. Well, that may not have been entirely the case.

I had to wait from August 12th until mid November for the tank to arrive. As this is a show car and I already have entries in to various shows, the large delay caused me to forfeit my entry fees in two shows (so far).

When we did get the tank and installed it, the tank had to be removed and shipped back to you because you forgot to indent for the Pan Hard bar. That was another rash of promised shipping and missed ship dates but we eventually got the tank and installed it. Great, now we’re cooking.

Well actually, we aren’t cooking yet. The tank was a little too large and clanks on the body. We had to go back in and drop the tank to add insulation on the top of the tank to silence the noise.

Oh, did I mention that the tank now leaks from a weld seam after the PHB modification? Yup so out it comes again and we’re getting it TIG welded to stop the leak. Didn’t you pressure test the tank after you adjusted it for the PHB?

Oh, did I mention that the original wiring on the fuel sending unit was wired incorrectly and wouldn’t function as you shipped it? Did I mention that the installer had to rewire the actual switch wiper and reverse it to get it to work? He also had to add a ground wire to complete the circuit to make it function. He also had to go back in and bend the arm of the sending unit to get it to read full when the tank was full.

I have lost the use of my car for 5 months for this project and I am NOT a very happy camper. I’ve missed 2 shows, I have another show scheduled in 30 days and I think it would be a damn shame to miss that one because I will definitely have many things to say about this tank, the time it is taking to install, and the quality of the workmanship. My next show is the Winter Nationals in Orlando Florida this February. There are many vintage cars there and a few hundred f-bodies. Rest assured that I will have quite a tale to tell this year about my latest modification to a $60K+ show car.

The price of your tank was premised on the quality of your product. I think you owe me a 50% return of my money that you took.

You took too long!

Your product was not designed and assembled correctly!

You missed promised shipping dates!

Your electronic fuel sending unit configuration was wired wrong and totally nonfunctional!

Your tank was too large for the car!

And the absolute worst possible thing for a fuel tank… Your tank leaked!

I guess I’ve covered everything that been boiling up inside of me for a while. By the way, my car is STILL at the shop while they are getting the final touches on it to make all of the parts function.

Thanks for listening,

Elmer Boggs

What was the big deal about this particular tank that was supposed to be better than GM?

Stainless, and accommodated a large internal fuel pump. It uses -8 and -10AN fittings for fuel lines.

Wow, guess he had some bad luck with dealing with the owner of ls2.com
It would appear his name is pretty much ruined in the fbody community :)

Because of the long interval in the delivery, I doubt the credit card would be in the "window" of dispute.

Do we have a seperate forum for deals gone bad or lousy customer service? A specific spot were someone could look first? Like the BBB of LS2.COM?

This reminds me of McLeod and some of their unique parts that end up with R&D being done by the customer.

Well, Rick's has not responded to phone calls by my installer.

Rick's has not responded to e-mails from my installer.

Sounds like they screwed up and won't face the music.
