so i was lookin' around the big LS2.com today, and suddenly came upon a corner of the forum I have yet to visit (ignorantly, seeing as I have a peace of Classic GM Muscle). So here's my 1979 Bird, it's an Esprit and has the original 301 with a nice little cam and true-duals. It's enough power for this 16 year old, but a nice little 350 is in the future. Just finished installing the line lock too, so heres a few pics. tell me what ya think.

Nice lookin Esprit Andy. Why not go with a 400 instead of a 350 though? :D

cause the 350 already has a Victor Jr., double hump heads with long-slot rockers and longer pushrods and its .30 over. And, to find a pre-72ish 400 (the one's that didn't have a cheesy bottom end) is hard, and probably expensive. Oh, and thanks BTW.

Well why not a 350 poncho? :p Those can be had a dime a dozen....and make power. Or hell just 455 it. Anything but a chevy motor seriously :(

Victor Jr might be alittle big for camel-hump heads

Nothing wrong with a Chevy motor, but I guess your point was to keep it all Pontiac, if the original motor was not going to be used. I agree, I'd replace it with another Pontiac motor too.

if i didnt have a chevy motor sitting in my shed, i would look for a poncho powerplant (400 or 455), but this one is already built and needs little to get running. im still gunna keep the 301, just incase i ever get the erge to bring it back to original.
and about the heads, yeah, they're a little small, especially with the cam that it has. i may go with some E-tec's or Vortecs, if i ever get the money.

Oh absolutly not, SBC's rock only second to ponchos ;)
But seriously I understand....if I had a lethargic 301 and had a stout buick 455 laying around....shit I'd toss that in a pontiac. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do man  Post up some times!

i'd rather upgrade to better heads, then "downgrade" and go with a dual plane. I'm gunna try and make it an engine that likes to rev (4 bolt mains'll let me do that).

very nice. i have the 403 olds, but i noticed that your heater hoses fit a lot better. we got a replacement for mine but it doesn't fit right, its too tall and gets crunched by the hood when it closes :(
where did u get ur dual exhaust?

uhhhh, I'm pretty sure the shops name was B&M, and it's here in London. The guy did a pretty good job, i dunno how he made the tail-pipes so equally angled, I was really surprised that he could. It's 2 1/4" from the manifolds (301 headers = $$$$), so it'll be good enough for me for a while.

Whoa, I didn't even notice you were from London. Drop by The Great Lakes forum some time and introduce yourself :)
