Bottle warmer. I have "heard" of guys putting them in a hot bath tub until the pressure gets to about 1100psi (make sure you have a bottle pressure gauge on the bottle) and then by the time you use it, it is around 950 or so. I don't really recommend this, but it could work.

Bathtub before a long night of racing, then the NX automatic heater.
The bathtub trick gets my 15lb'er to about 1300 psi.. by the time I get to a happening spot, it's around 1100.. (perfect :D) Easy for the NX heater to keep up with it.

I just turn the heater on.
Well I have the heater, but the bottle sits in the car all day/night and gets VERY cold since its cold here.
It takes like 45 mins with the heater on, and it only gets to like 800 psi on a full bottle.
I guess on friday, when the trck opens, Ill have to bring the bottle inside @ night, and then warm it up hardcore for like an hr before I get there.
Anyone make a hotbox?

I bought a different themostat (for a NOS heater) from a guy on the the "other" board. Heats it up a bit higher to the 1100 range.
I dunno what the NX pressure operated heater would do/does.

I would get a different thermostat or eliminate it completly. I don't run a thermo, I just keep an eye on the press and shut the heater off when the bottle hits around 1,100psi. I find that once the bottle is up to temp it will hold it's pressure for atleast a couple hours (if I don't spray during that time). Also, if I know it's going to be cool out I'll take the bottle out of the car and bring it in the house for the night. However, people begin to think your strange when there is always a bottle sitting next to the door in your kitchen. ;)
Well I have a TNT heater, and it gets hot, but it doesnt seem to wanna heat up the COLD ass bottle any faster.
I'll have to bring it in the house and sleep with it or something

Try putting a bottle blanket on it too, NOS sells one. Or you could just use a propane torch like some of the idiots do at Capitol!:p

Sep1234 or whatever his name was, right?
sep1234 had sold them, then somebody in florida took over and sold a batch as well.
I have one extra set if somebody wants them.

Bathtub. I done it once and It held right at 1200 psi for about 2.5 hours.

I have the 35'C instead of the 30'C sensor... so the pressure does get higher.
Just go for a little drive while it gets warmer.

Sorry, did'nt mean to exclude you.
Like some of the idiots at Atco too!!
That better?:D
I think if I bring the bottle in for the night, and then have the warmer on in a warm car for 1 hr before I race, it should be fine.
thanks guys
I also might get one of those emergency heat blankets...:p

Get the bottle blanket, they do work great. Holds in the heat so the bottle can warm up quicker, also keeps the bottle pressure down when it's like 120* in the car. :)

It only takes my heater about 20min to get from 600-700 psi up to 950.

You can modify the thermostats on some of the bottle heaters so they won't shut off at 950 psi. The problem with that is usually one full pass can drop the pressure almost 100 psi. When you are trying to heat a bottle quickly a heating torch is the fastest option.

well my bottle has been sitting in 20-30* weather every night for the past month...it takes like an hr to get to 800psi...
thats why im going to bring it inside tomorrow night for racing on friday

Once you try the bathtub, you WON'T ever have to circle the town all night waiting for it to get hot..
another quick question...
i have the guage mounted off the bottle...
if i take off the bottle, and put in the bathtub, and open the bottle so the guage is working, wouldnt the nitrous come out the other side of the guage?
sorry if that is a n00b question, but im a nitrous n00b

Depends on the bottle and the guage. If the guage is tapped into the actual valve on the bottle then it will give you the pressure all the time. However, if it is in line with the nozzle and the nitrous line then you will have to have the bottle hooked up in order to read the pressure.
FYI, if the bottle is full and it feels warm to the touch, then the pressure is probably pretty good.
mine is in-line...thats what a figured
i figure i can put in the tube, heat it up, then walk down and quickly hook it up inside the car tomorrow AM
thanks a lot guys

Why do you say that?
Ive always used a torch for my bottles, simple because it takes 2-3minutes to go from 600psi to 1200+psi, unlike the blankets that take 20min+. People say it weakens the bottle, but my bottles have no problem holding pressure, and have been taking the abuse from the flame for years. Ive used the Heating Boxes, and with it on the highest setting, still took forever to get the pressure up.
Its all in how you heat the bottle with the flame. Working in a up and down motion all around the bottle, and heating the bottom you will be just fine.
But everyone has there opinions on the torch method. Myself, i'd rather take the 2-3 min to heat my bottle then race, then stand around for 20-30minutes waiting to see at least 1000psi.

You guys can afford to put nitrous on your car, pay to have it refilled, but can't afford a damn bottle warmer??? I don't really like the idea of using a torch either. Just doesn't seem like the best idea IMO.

Nothing wrong with using a torch- as long as you don't create any "hotspots". Just keep the rosebud moving adn cover the whole area of the bottle until you reach desired pressure.
It's the same as using nitrous, the right amount is extremely effective, too much is disastrous.

LOL...try going to the track and watch what the guys with the 6 and 7 second cars(in the 1/4) use to heat their bottles. AT that level weight is important as is time and a tourch will heat a bottle in a matter of minutes. How many big hp cars have you owned?
