What would you go with. I'm going to be using my Vortech V9 to feed the engine, so big cubes probably not an option. Maybe a 396 but that's as big as I'd want to go. Mostly looking for something that can be put together in pieces as I get the money.

Thanks.

I recently finished my 408 Iron block (minus injectors and PCM) it has 8.6:1 CR....I plan on running it with a turbotech T-76 :D

the goal is 800rwhp on approx 16 to 18 lbs :drive:

oh, and beauty of it all is....it's gonna get dropped in a 5.0 body

i'd stay stock displacement (and did) max driveability, max mileage, max block strength, and cheaper!

that's my #1 option. Of course I'd want to go forged. :D

is there much advantage in the LS6 block over the LS1 block?

wouldnt hurt, but far as power holding, cant tell you if it would help or not yet as i dont know of anyone that has split a stocker.

I WOULD SAY A COMPLETE FORGED INTERNAL 408 WOULD BE THE BEST WAY !

I HEAR ANDY AT A&A IN Ca. has a hell of a setup with his 408 and procharger !

I know one thing you do not want to use a 4.125 crank !!! :o

4.125 would get you to like 427 wouldn't it? I think my little Vortech V9 would have trouble feeding a 396, let a lone a 408 or 427 :) I'll probably just stay with stock discplacment, and build for sthrengh and then turn up the boost :P or in my supercharger case, buy a smaller pulley :drive:

That's what i would do. Big cube motors are awesome, don't get me wrong, but there's also something to be said about stock displacement motors pulling good numbers.

346 with forged everything, a set of good flowing heads, cam, and good fuel system!:D Some of these set-ups can handle a lot of boost 12-15 psi and also make upwards to 600rwhp and still be daily driver tolerable to a certain point!

Agree. You shouldn't need 427ci thumper to run a 9.xx. Go with a forged 346 (or 348) and get a bigger blower. The V9 will just become a limitation.

Look into an ATI D-1SC, maybe an F1 (NOT an F-1R) or a Vortech V-1 T-trim.

One of my friends is making 625rwhp on a 99TA 6speed, with a Vortech G-Trim on a Stock Cube LS1 and it has perfect street maners :D

I am making 503rwhp and 495rwtq! With a forged 346, stage 2 heads, mild cam, and ATI P1-SC! That is with only 7 psi too!:D
