I would like to find out what the highest, verifiable, revving LS1/6 is. 12,000 RPMs?

By verifiable I mean, I do not want any "I heard about" or "My friends buddies car". A web site with video and/or sound is preferred ;)

Thanks!

Check out some of the Futural solid rollers, I know that they have gotten close to 8K if not gone over it.

yeah it would be very difficult to get these motors to rev to 10,000 or more

Hell winston cup, err nextel cup motors only rev to 9500, I doubt an ls1 would even come close.

Heck my is set to 6400 cuz I kept smacking it with the N2O. Shift at 6200. (I have an upgraded valvetrain) I could go higher but the dyno says it is not worth it.

Yep.
The shop that put the 2 cars together that were reving to 7200 even laugh at them.
As far as I know they are not reving that high any more. Not because they came apart, just because they relized it would soon.

7200 rpms on the stock bottom end is just asking for a new motor:eyepop:

I've spun mine to 7k on the dyno, and a couple of times at the track :

Still making mucho power up there too, crazy !:drive:

That was before the Holley intake and nitrous.

Stock LS6 bottom end with ~1000 miles on it at the time of dyno. About 10k on it now, valvetrain starting to tick a little but bottom end seems solid. I don't rev it that high regularly. :D

A good friend of mine has a solid-roller car that he shifts at 8,200 RPM.

I heave read a stock LS6 will wind to 7000 with no modifications, other than removing the rev. limiter.

Mecanicly mine will go to 7200, but I wont do that, I'm happy with 6800

There's a White SS in St.Francisville that launches at 6800-rpm and spins well into the 7's

your shift points would depend on the cam you are using. Most cams quite making the power around 6800-7000 unless your cam is really hugh. Then you have to consider the bottom end and how long you want to keep that going, along with the valve train.

Had to revive this thread from the dead when I saw this post from "SlyWS6" on LS1tech :

http://images.cardomain.com/member_images/5/web/389000-389999/389999_79_full.jpg

7400RPMs and "balls as big as church bells". Stock bottom end. Later on in this thread the motor locks up at the track.

He says the tach is off and it never went above 7000-7100, but STILL !!! Heh.

Happy driving,
Bad30th

Here is mine. I usually shift @7100, but have left it in 2nd to finish the 1/8 mile @7600 and gained 2 mph.
