I recently installed a set of pacesetter headers, and didnt buy the y-pipe for fear of fitment issues, and I can get it done cheaper at a exhaust shop. My questions is am I ok to run open headers with a piecie of 3" pipe 20" long behind the headers, without having to worry about damaging the engine, I only have to drive it about 30 miles, but it is going to be around 40 degrees the day I have it scheduled to be done, is there anything to worry about?:help:
Thanks

Why no WOT? Hearing issues, local law enforcement?

LT headers provide enough backpressure to not damage your engine. The only area that you could damage would be your o2 sensors because of too much raw air getting sucked back in. If you just need to drive it to the exhaust place then go ahead and do it. I had to drive mine about 10 miles with open headers and didnt have a problem. You'll be fine.

Why would he run lean? I thought that headers made you run a little rich!!!

Holy Batman! Open headers, I now have first hand experience in that with an LS1. Umm. I drove home at 2 in the morning. But with the windows up, and the radio up, I can live with it. Hurry up Y-pipe!

it gets old quick doesnt it ;). i drove around for a week with my LT's and catted Y dumped with no catback since it needed some fitting and cutting before it could be put on. i kept the rpms down since it was so loud :o

IT does get old very quickly, but you have to try it at least once, it sounds badass the first time you start it

I had to drive my car about 20 miles to get the Y welded to the catback, so I just left it off cuz it would hang real low. I never had a problem, but I didn't get on it and it was WAY too loud for my taste.
