Intown there is this old lady that lives alone and sticking out of her barn in the backyard is a 1970 4 speed T/A. White with the Blue stripe and blue interior. She wont sell the car for nothing, says she bought it brand new and got tired of driving it and parked it there. Its in a barn and the front end is hanging out the barn door. You can see it from the road.
How would I go about talking her out of it in a way that it might work?
I want to save it if it is possible. From what I understand its a low low miles car but has been sitting for 20 years or so.

Ask her if she has any intention of restoring it:dunno:
If she does, then just let it go:\
But if not, grab her by the neck and squeeze HARD:mad:
I hate people that would rather see a Classic car rot in their yard than have someone else bring it back to life:bashhead:

Why wouuld you hate someone for that? Maybe that was her son's car and he died in some tragic way. Perhaps that was his pride and joy, the one thing he loved with all his heart. I bet he worked several summers just to save up the down payment. He used to wash it in the driveway every saturday night and she would watch him through the kitchen window. It made her happy because it made him happy. I bet it is the the only thing that she has left to remember him by. What a shame that someone would hate her for that....
stupid bitch

LOL she has no intent on selling it. She looks like she is in her 80's about ready to die. She bought it new for herself.

I hate to say this, but watch the obits. then contact the estate.
Or just leave her your number, and wait. Sometimes they come around. It may take awhile.

I know how you feel. I tried to buy a 69 RS/SS vert, 396,4-spd, pace car replica from this chick once. It was sitting in a field under a tree. It was still in pretty good condition but not far from starting to decline. I offered her 6K in cash for the car. She said she decided she was going to hang on to the car.
A week later her husband came in where I work and said she sold it to a friend in Detroit as a daily driver......for 6K

Get yourself a badge and a towtruck. Knock on the door and tell her you are with Mobile Urban Revitalization Cleanup and have to confiscate the "old car" sitting out back with no tags or registration. Dont forget the MIB sunglasses either

Sounds like how I found my Judge. :D
The guy's that told me where it was said that the owner would never sell it....... I just flashed some cash and it was mine.
They all learned that trying to lowball a guy for a car can backfire. I knew what it was worth, and didn't hesitate when the guy told me what he wanted for it.

Good luck buying the TA. I love '70 - '72 TA's. My Brother has a '72 Trans Am - 455ho - 4spd.
I found a '69 Trans Am - Ram Air IV - 4 spd about 9 years ago now. They are the original owners and they are in no hurry to sell it. I've been by to say "Hi" and ask if it is for sale yet just about every year. Nice couple, they tell me that if they ever sell it, that it will be to me.
Be patient.
Try to make friends with them.
Tell them how cool you think it is and ask if you can take some pictures.
