Hi,
I have a problem with a 96 3.8
It throws a P0300 code for ramdom misfire.
The car misses badly up to 30 mph.
I changed plugs but no difference.
Could it be wires or an ingition module?
Help!!

how did your wires look when you changed your plugs?

they looked like orginal 120,000 mile wires. I did not see any open sparks while running. It was dark so I should have seen them, I think.

I would probably look to the ingnition control module if it is a random missfire. Same symtoms happened to a friend on his 97 3.8l. Since you live in St. Louis there ought to be an O'reilly's or Autozone that can test that control module for free.

I think ya answered your own question! :D
Change the wires, especially if they've been on there for 120,000mi!!!!

Those wires are pretty old man. Just because you didn't see anything at night doesn't mean the wires are still tip top. I'd change those regardless, and then have the module tested.

Thanks for all of the help, the ignition module was faulty.
