I used the can one saturday. I'll tell ya I do know it does something, lol. Because my car smoked for 5 minutes straight lol. It does get the carbon build up out, lol. We put it in, and let it set about an hour, and then started it up, and i let it warm up, and then started reving some and the white smoke rolled, lol. The I changed the oil, it will finally quit smoking. lol

I dunno about the spray, but the can is not hard at all to do.......

I used the spray can, and like was said above, my car smoked for several minutes. Cleaned out the oil that was in the intake manifold though  .

Im pretty sure the spray and the liquid is the EXACT same stuff, so in theory, it should work the same.

For what its worth, you can save a few bucks and go to NAPA and buy a product called Seafoam. Its the same thing as the GM stuff.

Get two cans and change the oil a couple of days later.

Would you do this right before of right after a cam swap?

I used a can of Seafoam the other day and it works great also. The dealers here in Ca. aren't allowed to order Top Engine Cleaner any longer due to new environmental regulations.

Might look into the seafoam stuff as well. How many miles before you should do it? I have 52k right now, never been done as far as I know!!

I usually run a can through every other oil change (6,000 miles). This might be "overkill" but with the crappy PCV system, we get a lot of oil in the intake which ends up in the combustion chamber.

Have you considered the catch can mod? I has helped trap any oil from getting into the intake on my car.

I switched to the new PCV valve but I still get some oil in the intake. A catch can is next on my list of things to do. :D

i did mine right before an oil change.. and right after i did the catchcan... that way i prevent future issues (as best as possible of course)... 2 cans, in through the PCV into the intake.. easy as hell.. let it sit overnight then the next morning i turned the weather from sunny to partly cloudy ;)
