I don't know much about 3rd gens and need to find some answers for a friend looking at an 88 TA 5.7. First, is it MAF or speed density? Secondly, will it need a conversion to one or the other to prevent poor responses to mods? What does LS2 recommend and what will it cost? TIA...
85-89 were MAF; 86-89 have the same ECM.
MAF is really good at correcting fuel maps on a modded TPI engine, but you really need to tune your own to have the car run "right." Overall, the SD 90-92 ECM is a better setup once you begin tuning.
