I just picked up this months car-craft and they have a whole writeup on this new composite intake for the ls1 that is styled after the 01-02+ LS6 style intake (new gto uses this kind too). It has blow off plates in case of a backfire, and it can handle up to 80psi for supercharging. Supposedly better materials and in design than the current composite ls6 intake. Its made with three seperate peices, has nitrous bosses molded into the intake, and can handle up to a 90mm throttle body. And theirs enough material to allow removing up to .060" for porting. I know I sound like a spokesdude but I'm not and I'm just saving you guys the trouble of reading the whole car craft article.

HP/TQ gains over a stock LS1 intake are 20hp/13tq

and over an LS6 intake

15hp/7tq

Not sure what the price is, and jegs or summit doesn't sell it. Maybe you have to buy it direct from the website.

The price is usually in the neighborhood of $750-$800 depending on which one you get (theres a 78mm version and a 90mm version).

The overall consensus is still uncertain about this intake. There have been some cars that gained nothing by going with this intake, and there are some who gained as much as 10 RWHP over an LS6 intake.

The advice I've given all along to people is if you currently have an LS1 intake and are in the market for a better intake, and you plan on going heads/cam or forced induction, then you might want to consider this intake.

If you already have the LS6 intake, you might want to shy away from it, unless you absolutely must have every last amount of power from your engine.

If you are only a bolton guy, or cam only, youre better off with the LS6 intake.

Cool. Thanks for the info.

Like I said, if it were me, I'd probably leave the stock ls6 style intake on there, and the natural bolt-ons. And probably switch to a cam with a tighter LSA. Dreams, aren't they nice? ;)

because the gains have shown that it doesnt warrent the 800$. the LPE intake has been out for years IIRC unless your talking about a new one which i've yet to hear about? the LPE intake is just like the Holley/Wieland intakes.

the Lingenfelter intake is based on the LS6 intake, but you are able to bore it out if you want.

I gained about 10hp going from the LS1 intake to an LSX. I think there is more there....I had some KR so I need to tune it to see what I can wring out of it. If you have the LS6 intake now, I wouldn't bother....unless you go with a stroker.

the TB's aren't out yet. But if you are looking for the 90mm ones, MTI has 90mm TB's for sale.
