Hello all,
Thinking of possibly putting in an LS2 or LS6 in my 2001 Trans Am (M6 tranny). Would there be any modifications needed to do such a thing? Or would it be a straight swap? Any help and all feedback is greatly appreciated!!

should be a direct swap if you have the correct harness.

Are you thinking of using the LS1 computer to work with the LS2? If so, there ARE a few things I found out (the hard way):
1) If you're getting the latest LS2, make certain it's cable-drive, not Drive-By-Wire
2) Save the water pump from the LS1, since I believe the LS2 water pump won't fit properly
3) If it's to work with the LS1 computer, the cam sprocket needs to be a single bump, not 4 bumps (which came with my LS2)
4) The reluctor wheel must be a 24X, not a 58X (which came with my LS2)
5) Oil pan on the LS2 may also be an issue......
When you're buying the LS2, tell the people you're buying it from it's going into an F-body and working with the LS1 computer (are you?), so they can make certain these issues are addressed.
