why? because Holden products look better, are more reliable, are built better, have much nicer interiors, and so on..Have you seen the aussie interiors in the HSV gto and monaro? and in the new commodore? they're quite impressive :yup:

They should be done this to the GTO too. They put the Pontiac grill on it without raping the front end, and also managed to keep the Holden look. Im not too fond of the Altezzas, but I can live with them. Id pimp it

I'm loving those hood vents, I hope they're functional.

I see they tried to make the front bumper resemble the G6. I think the Holden one was fine, oh well.

BTW, the G8/Commodore looks about 1000X better than the Dodge Charger. GM should have no trouble selling all they import.

Its supposed to start at that price w/ a V8 and it probably wont' be the top of the line model. A more powerful GXP will probably come later.

Why is it so hard to believe? The 300C and Hemi Charger start around $30k. The G8 is supposed to compete w/ those cars.

The estimates have been coming out at around $30k for the base V8. Doesn't sound like a stretch at all.

They start around $30K. Neither of those cars are imported, either. Considering a well-optioned Grand Prix GTP (2002) was a FWD V6 and cost about $33,000...a well-optioned G8 GT will easily cost as much if not more. I have a feeling the GXP model, if released, will cost closer to $40,000.

Remember, this is a 2009 model year vehicle.

I thought it was an 08MY vehicle, available at the end of this year/early next year.

My understanding is that these new Holden designed cars can be sold at these prices and still bring a profit.

The G8 will be made in NA in about two years at the Oshawa plant. Keep in mind it shares architecture and engines w/ other upcoming high volume GM vehicles including the Camaro and the new RWD Impala.

GXP's start around $28k - $29k but GM has been offering big discounts on them. I seriously doubt any new G8 will be available w/ rebates at least for quite a while.

Lutz already said it would start under $25k w/ a 350 hp 3.6L V6. Car and driver lists the V8 starting at $27k bare bones, mid $30k loaded.

with the top level v8, nav, etc., for mid $30k range? that's awesome. better deal than any other 4-door out there.

while i certainly understand quad's love for high end cars, i don't and will never understand his love for audi/vw and for luxo cars two generations old :Picard:

however, I cannot imagine that it will be leather covered at that price.

Pickup the next motor trend I believe the comparison will be in there.

Price isn't 'official', yet.

That's just how they are today, everybody is pushing safety and that's a big reason for ever increasing weight. Either way, 390 lbs of torque coupled to an A6 should still pull the car around nicely.

Car and driver estimates the starting price for the G8 GT at $27k. I don't see it starting over $8k more than the V6 model.

its all speculation at this point...no one even knows if the car actually exists but it is a logical conclusion to jump to.

6.2L LS3 powered, 425-450hp.

and presumably some different body work, but i dont know how they can possibly make the car look even more agressive without ruining it. the car looks awesome as it is. :drool2:

and it might be close to 4000lbs , but we are not talking about taking the omega ( from the uk ) and engineering it to take a v8 ( like the current chassis gto) .. although it did well ( for a trailing arm irs ) , the new is worlds apart with its multilink irs , the front remained strut , but better engineerd, and a big complaint of the outgoing V-car , was it wooden steering feel, the new one has the steering rack ahead on the wheels , for razor sharp feedback,

i wouldnt be surprised to see a g8 gt , run rings around a SRT8 around a track even with less power.

The Chrysler 300C/Charger R/T weigh around 4100 - 4200 lbs. They got the G8 in at least 100 lbs. under that. At least it didn't come in higher.

did i mention the g8 also benefits from near perfect 50:50 weight distribution , leading to superior handling.

i have'nt seen what the rear wheel clearance is compared to the outgoing v-car , but it has nothing to do with each other ... i would say 315's would fit easily

Yes. Yes it is. What's most bizarre is that peak torque is achieved after peak horsepower  The numbers they gave are a mathematic impossibility, because torque @ 3700 would have to be above 500lb-ft to be making 362hp.

They must've just made a typing error.
