My car had the infamous fender tab issue. Well the previous owner had to get the front fenders replaced and the whole front of the car re-sprayed.
Well I went to do the !moldings and yup you guess it. They sprayed the door panels with the moldings on there. Now there is a nice line where you can see the extra paint/clear is. You can feel the raised edge with a finger nail. I tried claying but it was of no use. I have 8 coats of Zaino on, but I'm assuming it's the clear that's giving me the problem.
So..... wet sand or what? The paint I guess isn't that off.. it's just that line that is buggen me.

It's not THAT noticeable after about 10 yards.

I'd take it back and demand they repaint your door, sounds like a shitty job to me...
Aren't they supposed to take the molding off, THEN paint...?

sounds like they didnt' remove the moulding before painting. not all shops do that - some just tape stuff off and paint.
the only way to fix that is (1) put the moulding back on, (2) take it to a paint shop. they will probably have to sand and repaint those panels. i don't think they could buff that off :dunno:
good luck - keep us updated!

As much as it sucks, those are your options...:(

Previous owner took the car into the dealership to have the fenders re-aligned before the car sale. They said they'd have to get whole new fenders. Hence, his insurance paid for the work. I think he said it was something like $1400 dollars!
Well, I'm ultra anal about my car's finish.... looks like it's off to the paint shop I go :(
(Although..... I COULD get the rearview mirrors and Roof/B-pillars painted gloss black... ala what my '95 Red Z28 looked like.... hmmmmm)

same thing happened to my car. took off the side moldings on the drivers side, now I am putting them back on!! errrrr, if I only had enough money to repaint the entire freakin car! mmmmmmmm SOM
I would wet sand it with 1500 and then with 2000 paper, both the new and old paint has a clear coat so you want to blend the two together, kinda like welding joins two pieces of metal, then you will have to buff with 3M Fine Cut Rubbing compound, and then probably 3M Swirl Mark Remover and then a final finish wax or polish.

Kevo.. I've got all that stuff... it's what I used to remove the Bird on my Rear Taillight panel.... hmmmmm.... I dunno, I think I might leave this one up to the 'professionals'. YES I'm a little girl.

You'll risk making the new paint flake off, that really sounds like a shitty paint job. Unless you wanna put them back on, you might have to get the door repainted.

If you don't know what you're doing take it to someone that does. You might make it worse and end up costing you extra in the future. The should be able to sand that and just reclear the door to make it look a lot better, probably not perfect, but better than it does.

I have the same problem. I bought the car used back in Feb 03. I took off the side molding and when i got to the driver's side front fender, i took it off and sure enough it wasn't removed when it was previously repainted.
It's not noticeable till you get close to it and on a white car it shows. I think eventually i'll go to a body shop and have them take care of all the little nicks, marks, and etc...

Why? Has your car been repainted?
You can probably peel back just a bit and see if there's an issue.
