Ok in the next few weeks my brother and I will be buying the motor and adapters and such to put a 5.3 vortec into his 1978 Jeep CJ7.

We plan to use the 5.3 with an adapter from Novak adapters to mate the engine to the T18 tranny.

Still kinda unclear on the fuel system and the clutch setup.

Also not too sure how the computer and wiring will work out. I have seen a few sites that will make harnesses.

I guess it would just have to be a standalone harness because I can get a harness for the rest of the jeep for the lights and whatnots...

Any info. or input would be appreciated.

thanks

Update:

Ordered the motor mounts, bellhousing adapter and picked up the motor.

Still need to get:

clutch components, Manual tranny bell housing, get the harness modified....

Still have to figure out what I am gonna do as far as the fuel system and power steering...

old post, figured I'd update.

Longest project ever.

Motor is mounted, clutch is in, converted to hydraulic clutch., headers are on but need a slight tweak to work out nice.

Bought ls1 intake and different front end accessories so we cam ditch that ugly 5.3 intake.

Got a stainless dash and nice autometer gauges. Got a fuel pump and lines, got intake, MAF and adapter hose.

Got a painless wiring kit and had the factory engine harness modified.

All thats left is a couple random hoses and pipes, fluids and all the other stuff installed or wired which should happen very soon. I'll get pics when it happens.
