I haven't found anyone that has actually done this, but I've been wanting to perform this job for about the past 3yrs. now. I finally have the boat I'd like to try it out in. Does anyone have any knowledge on this? From what I know, the ls-1 uses a traditional standard flow cooling system as compared to the lt-1 which will make it easier, and the engine is internally balanced therefore I will need a 0 balanced flywheel. I plan to put the seawater pickup pump in place of the a/c compressor to keep it a serpentine belt setup. I plan to set the rev limiter at 5k-5500 rpm due to the engine being at wot for extended periods of time, custom cam, valve springs, pushrods, possibly the exhaust valves. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

 I have heard of people putting SBC in their boats but I am not sure if they used the LS1 or not.

I have seen/done many small block chevy's in boats, just not a ls-1. I'm very interested in trying it out.:)

they offered one when my cousin ordered his genesis but the ls1 doesn't make nearly enough torque down low for a boat. He ended up with a 468 BB...

It's a lighter 20' baja outlaw. It had a 260hp 5.0 mpi in it. I'm going to have a custom grind cam to operate in the rpm range, so I can get the torque/hp in peak range down lower. I don't plan to turn it over 5-5500k rpm's due to running it at wide open throttle for extended periods of time. I've owned, built some big block boats and still have one w/twin big blocks in it. Fully dressed, they way so much. True, they put out the torque, but a fully dressed cast small block is a lot lighter than a fully dressed cast big block. I already know the ls-1 is light and I plan to run alum. manifolds on it too. I did find a 420 hp 496 h.o. that has my attention though. It's fully dressed, ready to drop in.

don;t get me wrong I'd love to see how it would work in a boat. I'm just relaying what the Genesis boats told my cousin.

My uncle is putting some new engines in his 38' fountain to replace the 2 blown 468's. I don;t think any LS1's will have the power to push that thing though ;) He is gonna be throwing a pair of 572 GM crate motors in there (720hp) and quad screw blowers, should make for a fun ride

That's going to be sweet!! I have a 29' Fountain Fever II w/twin 400hp 454's in it right now that I've been trying to get ready. I was really wanting to put some Merc. Racing 525's in it, but they're are so damn expensive. I found a used pair w/headers that had 160 hrs. on them for $31k. Sounds high, but brand new the cheapest I recall seeing them is $28k each w/out the CMI headers. What does he plan to do w/the 468's?

well he said he is either gonna rebuild them 1 more time because 1 started getting water in the oil and he cannot figure out why. Or he is gonna get permission from the wifey to buy some new motors and keep the old ones as spares.

He is swaying towards the new motors because he bought the boat with the motors that are in it and really doesn't know too much about them and he contacted Teague and they really couldn't give him any info.
