As much as I absolutely hate to sell this car, I need to stick with one project and finish the Buick first. So, putting the '89 TTA I just bought up for sale. These cars are going up in value and becoming VERY hard to find with lower mileage and unmodified.

'89 Turbo Trans Am/Indy Pace Car edition ..build #171 of 1,550.....48,500 original miles w/clean CARFAX. Car is a one-owner, all original car. No modifications done what so ever, unless you count new tires as a mod....lol. Mechanically, the car is in excellent condition. I just had the same mechanic who built my Turbo T go through the car and give it a thorough checkup, changed all fluids, filters. Car also has been given a good tuneup with new plugs, crank sensor, o2 sensor. Only thing we are still tinkering with is an exhaust leak on the driver's side...otherwise, the car is running 100%.

Cosmetically, the car is in very good shape considering it sat under a tree for 2 1/2 years. The only rust we have found is the trim panel between the T-tops. The panel is still available from GM Parts Direct or several 3rd Gen vendors. Rear spoiler has the usual cracks, as is common with these cars. Fiberglass replicas are available, but aren't cheap unfortunately. The rest of the body is in exellent shape.....only place that needs any paintwork is the nose. It looks like it was painted and not enough flex additives were mixed in, so when someone/something leaned/pushed against the nose, the paint cracked and split.

On to the really good stuff now. I have the complete owner's kit, including the original decal kit that was never installed. Also have the original window sticker, build sheet, all supplements that came with the TTA, plus some original dealer literature about the TTA/Indy Pace Car. The complete owner's kit is very hard to find nowadays, so that was a nice bonus when I bought the car.

Price is $13,500....below what most in the Auto Trader and other pubs are selling for. NADA Specialty car guide puts good condition, average retail at $15,700 with no mention of mileage. Click the link in my sig for a few pics and some info on these bad ass 3rd Gen F-bodies. If you need more pics, just PM me or shoot me an email at Slo86GN@yahoo.com . Thanks much folks, and have a Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays....:D

Just dug up a little more history on the car. I checked the name on the title vs the name on the owner's kit delivery slip and they don't match. Now I know why there is a Mississippi DMV entry in 2001 on the CARFAX report. Original owner bought the car in Memphis TN, then traded it back in to another Memphis area Pontiac dealership early 2001. 2nd owner purchased from dealership and drove it back to Greenville MS, where I bought the car in Nov 2006. That's a nice little piece of history on the car me thinks..:D

Another update:

Talked to another TTA owner who has a low build number car. The VIN on my car lower than his, quite a bit lower actually. So this car may be an early production car, possibly right after all the festival cars (cloth interior, some hardtops) were built. The owner's kit has a shipping date of March 27, 1989 on the invoice, so this also points to an earlier production car. I've sent the information in to the Pontiac Historic Society to get the actual build date, sequence number, etc. Should know something on that very soon. I'm enjoying the heck out of researching this car and putting it's history together...:D

Oh I will, trust me. I love doing research like this on collectable/rare cars. Makes me think I'm in the wrong line of work....:D

After a little more comparison, have narrowed it down to a mid-late 200's production number car. Still waiting to hear from the Pontiac Historic Services on the exact build number, but getting closer to finding it on my own. :D

Have you tried looking for the build sheet? You might locate it under the rear seat cushion....

I actually have the build sheet, but it doesn't specify what the build number was, just the schedule/job #, model, and D.P. number. I'll check with some of the other TTA owners and see if it possibly can be narrowed down even more using the build sheet info. Thanks for the suggestion....:D

Received the packet from Pontiac Historic Services today and the car is an earlier build than I expected/guessed. Car is #171 of 1,550......so it was built shortly after the production of the Festival cars finished up. Expect to see my Buick up for sale soon.....this Bird is making one helluva case to stay in my posession. :D

Well, things have changed and I need to sell the TTA and possibly the Buick as well. Any reasonable offers will be considered now. Gotta love when life throws a curveball at you. :(

Thanks for the bump, but as my last post states, they both (Buick and TTA) went to a good home last week. New owners have already started cleaning/repairing/modifying them both, so they are in very good hands. :D
