I was wondering what you guys think of the following idea:

Underneath the actual filter, I'm thinking I might cut a rectangular hole (5"X 2.5") in the black plate. Thereby allowing cold air to come through the nose of the car and access the filter. I could even place some mesh over the hole as extra protection.

A lot of people don't like this system because they feel that it draws in too much hot engine air. I was thinking this might eradicate some of that problem. Al

even if you do that it'll let more air in but its not sealed like a lid and FTRA/SSRA so its not as effective. a slp Z style hood would allow more direct air flow.

I see. After I posted today I read something about positive vacuum. I have noticed that at low speeds there is not much difference but at freeway speeds...hello. I guess that is because the air is being forced into the engine compartment.

I've been toying with the idea of getting a SLP Z style hood. But it was lower down the list of mods after TC and rear end.:drive:

if you could seal the air with the FIPK you'd see more of a difference as well :)

definately get the TC and rear end before the hood, that extra cfm can wait a bit.
