View Full Version : Water Blades???? Post Up Your Opinions.
I have a California Water Blade and it is ok. I am just worried that it hurts the car, but it says it does not. Post up your opinions.

I make sure mine is clean before each use, and I try to be really careful with it.. as long as it's clean (and the car is clean, of course), I wouldn't expect any problems.

Yea, mee too. Love it on light to medium colored cars. I will not use it on my hawk though (it's black). Make sure you keep it clean and only use it after you wash it (ie. don't use it to dry off your car after it rains. It will pick up any debris on the surface and scratch the paint.)
I use a leaf blower now and have never looked back!

Had one, didn't like it.
I just now stick to 100% Cotton Towels

I don't let anything but an absorber or a cotton towel on my car.

I've used it on my car for awhile now and haven't had a single problem.
I now use Mr. Clean autodry though :D

keep in mind that unlike towels, the waterblade has no nap. so if it picks up a spec of dirt - it's going to rub that all over your paint.
my personal optinion - i have a black car and am VERY particular about it.... no way i would ever use one on my car. only towels touch my car. i use cut up towels as wash rags, use a leaf blower and towels to dry.... zaino is the only other thing to touch my car ;)

Used one on my black car for about a year with no problems. I only use is after washing the car and I always rinse the car off completely after I'm finished washing.

The absorber is great!
Get two! One for each hand.
The water blade seems like it might mark up the car?

I use a custom made water blade made out of foam to do all my glass and the spoiler, then I use a leaf blower, followed by either microfiber towels, absorber, or supima cotton towels.

I have used 100% cotton towels in the past, but now I have some great microfiber towels and an electric leaf blower. It has never looked better after washing it...that leaf blower is the shizzle. Sure, everyone stares at you, but they also stare at my car after all is said and done because it looks better than theirs.

How do you keep the dust off of the car? Are you referring to getting the water out of the nooks and crannies after you've wiped the car down? Sorry for the dumb questions. :dunno:

It actually blows the dust off as you dry...
If you don't believe me, borrow one from a neighbor or buddy (make sure it is decent and blows a fast stream of air). Wash yer car. If it has a good coating of something on the paint, the water will bead pretty well. Turn on the blower, and watch the water fly.
I use mine by getting the large amounts of water blown off, and then follow immediately with a microfiber towel to get the tiny droplets. You'll notice that you can get all the water out of the nooks and crannies, and keep the dust off of your paint in the process. I've driven around and come back after doing this, long enough for dust to appear on the back bumper. I took the leaf blower out, and blew off the dust, and the dust just went away. It really works well, and your paint will look very nice after drying it this way because there won't be any water spots (not even the small ones).

I use mine for my windows only. Last time I used it on the body it left streaks. I have also been told that they can scratch the paint if you are not careful. I like to stay safe and just use it on the windows which works great on them.

drying my car....
1 - after washing, take nozzle off hose and turn water on so there is a small stream coming out of the hose. use this to "push" the water off you car. this alone will probably get 85% of the water off the car.
2 - pull out the leaf blower (toro 215 is the recommended model). i blow the whole car off. great for getting water out of all the cracks and seams. also good for blowing water out of tires and off brakes.
3 - bust out the towels to buff any remaining water. i'm a zaino guys so a quick shot of z6 removes any water spots that got made.

Works great for cleaning dew off the windows in the morning, never touches the paint though.
