Ok I'm sorta curious about all of you guys with GM trucks 99+ ...
I have an 00' Silverado half ton x-cab, and while mechanically it's been a pretty good truck, it has so many build quality issues it's just sickening.
I have a stack of warranty receipts 2" thick for this thing.
I mean EVERYTHING that had a service bulletein out, this thing had.
Weather stripping, arm wrests, seat covers, EVERYTHING...
Anyone else get a truck who was obviously built by a bunch of union workers before a 3 day weekend? :D
Mine is a 03 GMC 2500HD 4x4 D/A.
Right after I got it about a year ago the 4 wd actuator failed, that is the only warranty work I've had done.
Now the shitty fitting on the doors and fenders are another thing but mechanically I have 0 complaints.
I have 23000 miles on it now

I've got an '03 Chevy, and my CD player stopped working once. They fixed that in a few hours, free of charge. Besides that, I haven't had a single problem, squeak, rattle or anything.

Mine has been squeaking forever too. It's not even really a squeak, more like an obnoxiously loud grinding squeal. I guess something's broken inside the door because no amount of WD-40 will fix it. The only other problem I had with my truck was the fuel pump went out at about 30K miles.

I have an 01 1500 reg cab short bed. No problems here, I love my truck, even though it is only a 4.3 liter.:(

Not a single warranty issue yet on my '03 Avalanche. 20K thus far.
'02 Tahoe had virtually none. 34K when ditched.
'00 Tahoe had a retaining clip on a tranny cooler line let go at 212 miles on the Interstate. Nothing significant past that. 54K when ditched.

ya know....i have had my truck almost 2 years (in July), and the only thing that's been bad was the stock tranny, but it never had a chance, i sprayed it with 150 outta the dig, on the highway, during burnouts, and generally abused it to hell day in and day out. for the most part, 99.5% of the things that others have problems with as far as warranty and recalls i have had NO problems with. mine has meet, and far exceeded all the expectations i had when buying it. i love it to death. it takes a licking and begs for more with a smile.

Besides being on my third transmission and the motor being a little noisy, I havent had anyother problems with mine. I did have the steering shaft TSB done about eight months after I had it though.

My 2000 LT Extended cab has 65,000 on it, and it has had little or no problems.

No probs here except the battery that took a dump at about 49k miles. The positive post broke of the battery. Now has 60k miles.

I didn't have one problem with my 2001 GMC 1500 Ext. Cab 2wd 5.3. It was a great truck and I wish I still had it.

My 320,000 miles trumps any build quality issues.
Only 1 major(expensive) issue, recently had the tranny sunshell replaced.
I took the YOYO approach, I have never been back to the dealership for any issue. Not for
bulletins, recalls, warranty, etc. They always try to rope you in to buy a new vehicle.
The tranny was fixed on the side, by a GM tech.
This truck was the best money I ever spent, and still my daily driver, towing/hauling vehicle.
I only hope GM continues to build them like this one, after the corporate re-organization.
I can take a few issues with build quality, if I can wring out the value over time.

Holy thread resurection! :D
320K! That's awesome. I would probablly have well into the 200K miles on mine if I hadn't made it a toy and still drove it everyday. My Tahoe has 150K on it and runs great.

Since it's resurrected, 07 Tahoe, 80k miles, only issues 2 broken outside door handles due to my 3 year old doing pull up's on them. I love this Tahoe. I promised the wife that @ 100k miles we were going with a 370 boost motor, a KB 3.3 & 4L80.
Kenny - Christy is gonna be coming for ya Low Rider in da pimp ho. ;)

Dang, you got 80K on it already?!
Bring it on! She may want to mess with my Hoe before she challenges the Silvy. ;) BTW... I don't think KB offers the truck kits anymore. If you called they would probably still machine you the truck offset snout though. That's the only difference if you are going with a tuner kit
2003 GMC Duramax/Allison
I'm at 150,000 miles, had it 7 years. Average 18 MPG in the city and towing on the highway...22 mpg highway empty
in addition to the 4wd actuator I've replaced both front hub assemblies, new alternator, new turn signal switch assembly, new guage cluster, new wiper control circuit board the POS Bose radio doesn't work when it is below freezing....I had the injectors replaced at 98,000 under warranty.
I'll keep it a couple of more years (50,000 miles) and look at a Ford diesel....I won't buy another GM product as long as the government is involved with them

Well one way or another it's getting twin screwed, whipple or whatever other koolaid is available when I get the $. She drives the hell out of that thing & everything else we own. Just dropping Zach off @ daycare is a 60+ mile round trip from the Bay to GP, that happens twice a day. Not including all the trips to the other house in north La & she goes to Houston at least once every time I'm offshore.
Whatever it is we will start with some 6 liter heads, stock short, cam & blower, that'll give me a chance to start on the motor while she works on destroying the 5.3. Going to be at least 3.3 because the new motor will be a monster. It will have to be a tuner kit so it can grow with the motor. Gotta get the AFM tuned out & all kinds of other shit.
