In order to remove the pump, I need to remove the fan. I can't get the pulley to stop turning.
Best idea I have is to get some metal and make a handle to bolt on the WP pulley so I can hold it and turn the fan off.
Anybody out there have a better way? Seems like a lot of work just to change a pump out, must be a better way.
4.3L as in the S-10 engine? Put one wrench on a nut or stud from the water pump to use it to hold the pulley. Use another wrench on a nut to loosen it.

S10 Blazer.
Tried that. It tightens the pulley bolt.

If it tightens the bolt, then go the other way ;)
If it's 4 bolts like what I'm thinking of (same as SBC gen I passenger car,) you need to place the wrench on the nut, it doesn't even need to be a wrench that fits the nut. Then use the length of the wrench against the pulley instead of trying to torque the nut. This will provide enough leverage for you to loosen another nut.
