Do I put the 1-2 and 3-4 syncro's in neutral then connect the case?

Also are the grooves on the reverse and 5-6 lever assembled to the interlock plate?

The T-56 manuals I have place the cags lever inside the center case, thats wrong, correct?

Yes.
Yes.
When I assemble, I have the guide plate (with 7 gates) installed to the case. I hold the CAGS lever (with spring & ball contained & pressed against the guide plate) in position of neutral between 3 & 4. Then slide it over the main shift rail all with the main case. The only bugger is that you stand to possible shift the trans into 4th by friction.

He has the bolt there. It's also a little trick I do to prevent the forks from sliding down as well. :)

The bolt idea I got from NBMWSIX's posts.

You have no idea how many times that pissed me off until I figured to put something in there to stop it. :sillyme:

Since I broke a shift shaft and have two halfs laying around..

I assmble the guide plate and lever, spring and ball with one of the broke half shift shaft on the bench (RED SIDE) then slide everything on the trans assembly/ broke shaft slides out as the installed shaft(GREEN) slides thru the housing/ lever and guide plate assembly.

Hope this helps someone:cool:

Good idea. I'm semi-glad I've never broken the main shift rail though. :D
