View Full Version : Going with ATI Procharger Kit (Tuning Questions)
I'm lookin to get the ATI Procharger D1 Kit from Tbyrne shortly. It comes with everything needed including the Predator Tuning. How is Predator different from LS1 Edit and what would be better to tune with?
The car is 2001 Trans Am M6 with basic bolt-ons (Lid, LT Headers, Y-Pipe, Catback). Thanks

Yes, the Predator is different and I think that LS1 edit is better to use. You have more options with edit. The only thing is it is harder to use and more expensive than a Predator I believe.:D

Predator = someone sets up a program that is "designed" to work on your car. The program is loaded into the predator and then loaded from the predator to your PCM. If no hitches, it works. BUT, a hitch means that the program needs to be rewritten, sent to you via e-mail, reloaded into the predator, reloaded into the PCM. If perfect, you're set, if not do it all again.
LS1Edit, tune, read. Good, you're done. Bad, retune, read. Good, you're done bad, .....
LS1Edit tunes it while you are on the dyno and allows for adjustments.
That's the difference as I see it.

The ATI kits that come with a programmer are only recommended for a totally stock car. Predator can put together a custom tune for your mods but nothing beats having the car on a dyno to fine to it. We can also have a program put together to cover the mods that you'll be running. A new PCM would be sent to you so there wouldn't be any vehicle downtime. Another one can be sent to you if you want to fine tune or upgrade down the road.

Dont mean to highjack, hey Tom...does the D1 come with the brackets to mount the s/c up? What other hardware will be needed to install the D1 tuner kit?

Dude you are fixing to spend a pretty dollar on a supercharger set up. DO NOT cut ANY corners. Get a real dyno tune... get bigger injectors (42#) and a fuel pump that can supply the needed fuel. I just Dynoed 550 RHP, 477.5 rw trq. I've invested $2500 in trying to get a right tune... there is no substitute for a real dyno tune... you need it, it'll give you all your system has to give... and could possibly... more than likely save your motor.

All I needed to spend was $500 and I would of had it right the 1st time.

imho either go with ls1edit or wait and see how the new tuners go. (hptuner and efilive's new one)
I'd take ls1edit over the predator though, it has a learning curve, but once you get past it you can do just about anything :)
