Has anybody done this?
When I bought my WS6 I also bought a 8yr 50K mile extended warrenty.. I've since realized that I'll never let ANYBODY lay a finger on my car except for myself so it's pretty much worthless to me.
Also my future mods wont be warrenty friendly..
So I went to Pontiac today and got the form to cancel my extended warrenty (GMPP). I have a 2002 and only 4,000 miles. Do they pro-rate it or what?

It should be pro-rated, yes. :)

i think if you havent made any claims you get the full amount refunded minus a processing fee.

You get back a prorated portion of the warranty. However, if the extended warranty was financed with your lending instution as part of a loan, some finance companies REQUIRE that the reimbursed portion of the warranty go to a principal reduction on your loan with them...

That is a true statement. I just did that a few months ago. It was nice to see 1500 go straight to principle.

The best move I've ever made was to get the GM extended warranty when I bought the TA used. 3 M6 rebuilds, light motors, window motors, and a brand new 2002 LS6. Hmmm...$750.00 over a 4 year period, $15.63 per month....I think I made pretty good!!!

A PM is internal to this board, and should not have spamed you like that..... Now if you sent him a email... that very well may do that.
IF you did send him a PM let me know and we can have Zed look at it. :D

My car is financed through GMAC..
Does GMAC require the refund to go towards the principle?
I don't even remember what I paid for the extended warrenty..

More than likely... Yes.
it should have been in the $1000 to $1800 range.

If you sell or trade the car, any that is left you do get back in cash.
but to drop while still under contract most of the time they will only put it towards the balance owed.

The car will be sold or traded when I die. Looks like no cash back for me.

I just sold mine last month also. I figure if anything breaks, I will just replace it with something better rather than getting the same crappy stock piece.

I have cancelled my extended warranty i bought at the time i bought the car. As far as i know i should recieve $982 for cancelling it. I'm not 100% sure that i will get the check as at first we were told that it would go towards the car payment. My mom called about the check and asked the person she talked to if we could get the checked signed off to us so i could get the money. She said sure no problem.
I'm hoping i'll get the $982 check as then i will buy QTP headers the following week!!! :fluffy:
