Only times were on a 75 shot with a failing knock sensor that I realized was dead later on. Was wondering why my 60' times were rivaling Civics. Best time with that issue and the small shot was a 13.4 @ 108.
Tranny was having issues so she came out along with the motor for a bit of a rebuild. Motor is out, tranny is out, most of hte interior is out. Going to be spraying the engine bay myself and she'll be going in for some body work. Someone hit me in the right rear quarter a while back in a parking lot. Planning on keeping everything pretty much stock looking. Stock wheels, stock hood etc.
Engine is still up in the air as far as what I'm going to do. I'v epondered a juiced 383, juiced 350, and i've also thought of going with a s/c or turbo setup. I'd LIKE to do a TT setup but I don't have the experience with a welder to make my own manifolds and the people are banks don't liek to answer their voicemails or emails. assholes. I've got a set of flat top forged pistons that would make a nice start to a forged high compression nitrous motor but i want something a little bit different. I have th emoney, the ability (with help from friends and coworkers) and the other resources to do whatever i want pretty much, just a matter of "what do i want to do?". I'll figure it out eventually. lol.

Vigilante Torque Converter 2600 stall
B&M Console Megashifter
Suspension:
HAL 12 way adjustable shocks
Hotchkis Lower Control Arms
Hotchkis Panhard Rod
I did all the bolt-ons years ago.....currently I have changed my way of thinking and am building up my suspension and drivetrain, and will then start to rebuild my engine. I am shifting over to Spohn suspension parts.
For the engine I am going back and forth between an LS1 conversion OR the Motown 415 shortblock (undecided on heads and cam), a TPIS Miniram, and an ATI D1SC.
By the way, that Paxton ball drive blower it JUNK. I am on my second rebuild. Bought it new in 1996 from Summit. The NOVI line up is great, however.
Oh yeah, black POR-15 in the rear wheel wells. Great stuff.

It's a fun little car. Definitely takes people by surprise. It's a bit, ah, um... "traction challenged" at the moment. It ran a 13.3 @ 104. That was on P215/65/15 street tires. I haven't run it since the new wheel and tire combo went on. The problem with doing a V8 conversion in a Fiero is that there isn't room for a decent clutch inside of the Getrag. Also, repeated use of drag slicks tends to cause hardship on the axels.
It's a lot fun to pull some unsuspecting Mustang on the freeway from about 35 MPH. ;)
So it's not the fastest thing in the world, but it's goofy, and definitely a conversation piece.

What fits? What spline? Can you use a std. 153 tooth flywheel, and smaller disc? I am not too into transaxles.
Am I off topic? :p ;)

Mods:
Dynomax
gutted cat (the brick was loose, so why not)
home-made cold-air kit
ground-down humps in plenum behind TB
AFPR set at 48-49 psi
initial timing bumped to 10* BTDC (from 6*)
MAT sensor relocated to airbox
airfoil
FAST Chips (Ed Wright)
Best run with above - 14.42 at 95 with high 2.0 60' times.
Best run with stock PROM was 14.32 at 94-95 with low 2.0 60' times. I went to the track as a last minute decision and forgot I had the stock PROM in it.
ETs need updating, but here's my link: http://www.pontiactorque.com/My1988PontiacFirebirdTransAmGTA.htm
Now that I've seen 14.3s as it sits, I hope to maybe crack 13s with my SLP headers. Time will tell.

:hijack: :jk:
The biggest clutch you can fit inside a standard Fiero tranny is 9 11/16. I think it uses a 1" x 14 spline, if I remember correctly. Like all bastardized engine swaps, there's no "standard" way to do things. I think some people modify the 153 tooth flywheel, whereas others will get a custom flywheel from somewhere like www.v8archie.com
Lots of folks are experimenting with crazy clutch setups (Spec Stage III ceramics, Quartermaster dual disc setups, lots of nutty multi-puck combos, etc.) with various degrees of success.
The people who are really pushing it up around and above 400 HP are the ones who are very familar with Getrag repair and replacement. ;) My little car is just a mostly stock 350, and well short of that kind of drama - knock on wood.
As a TOTAL side note, you'd be amazed the engines that people put into Fieros. SBCs are very popular, as are the 3800 SC V6s, 4.9L Cadillac motors, Northstars, etc. etc. Kind of a modern day Vega - in more ways than one! :jest:

I've always liked the Fiero body style. Its a sharp little car. If thats the modern day Vega, I'll take one.
I'm sure the power to weight ratio is pretty impressive. And with the torque these TPI engines make, I bet it gets you from stop light to stop light in a hurry.
Happy :drive:
