Got my Nitrous Kit setup yesterday wasnt too pleased. I got the NOS 5177 Kit with 100 shot Dry. I expected more of a seat in the pants feel.

I got all the parts needed for the N20 setup. Bottle heater running at 950 PSI.

I mean in some gears i didnt even feel the Nitrous, but then in 3rd it did. Whats up with that?

People that have N20 on their cars. Let me know what you guys though about it?

Just lookin for some quick answers

Maybe you were just going so fast in the LS1 that it seemed like time stood still? :hmm:

You sure you had the bottle open :hmm:

I would think a 100 hp increase would be pretty noticable!!!

make sure that the throttle sensor is setup right...it might not even be activating the solenoid

But what could i be doing wrong. There are only so many things that need to be done. And i checked all of the connections. Everything is right...

Do you have a MSD window switch on the car? I could feel a diffence with 600PSI and only 2lbs in the bottle when I first got it on. If I get a feeling that it isn't spraying I lift the lid, connect the FPSS wires together and click the WOT switch and look if it sprays or not. All while the car is off I might add!!

Check the a/f and if you have the fpss get rid of it or turn it down some.

I do have a MSD switch. Comes on at 3200 and shuts off at 5600

Explain how you feel a difference? Does it put you back in the seat? Or do you just feel the car pick up faster?

Which way do i turn it down.. Clockwise or counter clockwise?

How do i know when to stop?

Best way I can describe it with full bottle and good presure: If you floor the car from a roll (mines an auto) it will downshift, then when you spray, it is like it downshifts again!! The feeling is the same as if you had another passing gear!! When the pressure is down and the bottle is low it feels like just a little nudge faster then without the spray!!

Thats how I explain it.

Another question..

I have the NOS Bottle heater, but that doesnt seem to be doing its job. I have everything hooked up right, but it doesnt seem to worm up the bottle. What could be wrong with this?

How long does it take to warm up a 15 lbs bottle?

Because Yesterday i was out messing around with it it couldnt heat past 600 PSI

What could be wrong with this?

wet kit hit harder. but with street tiers in 1st at 3200 rpm you should toast them. I bet it's the fuel pressure switch. my last car I could never get mine to work right. GOOD LUCK

Sounds to me like it either isn't getting power (or just not working) or you don't have any (much) nitrous left. Weigh the bottle and see what you have left in it!! There could be a leak in your system somewhere as well.

Only getting to 600psi? If the bottle was warm to the touch or hot, your bottle is empty/low. If not warm, then it is the heater.

The most noticeable sign that the kit is spraying would be a change in exhaust tone. You definitely should hear the car pick up the moment the nitrous hits. It should rev much faster too.

Do you have your window switch set correctly. The tach signal on an LS1 is 1/2 of what it is on a regular car, to get the MSD window switch working correctly you have to set it to a 4 Cylinder mode. If it's not set correctly your on and off rpm's will pretty much be twice what you think they are set to.

I cut the 2 looped Red and Blue wires, so i think its setup correctly.

I know the system is working. Just not like i thought it would. I just expected more out of it.

I dont know about the exhaust note, but the car does rev up faster.

Could be both.. Because the bottle is getting close to low since i did do about 12 passes.
For sure the bottle heater is not work then because the bottle is never warm or hot...
Why wouldnt it be working?? I have everything hooked up correctly. I checked power @ the switch and its getting 12 V. and everything is hooked up correctly. Could it be broken?
I need to take it out and put something cold up against the thermostats and see if the bottle heater start to get hot?

tooclean

for testing purposes only!!!!
by pass the thermostats, connect the heater pad to 12v bypassing all switches. It should get warm instantly. If it does not, you have a bad heating element(pad). If it does get hot, put a meter on the + and - where the pad plugs in. If you have 12v then go back from there.

I had this same problem with my NX heater, turned out to be a bad pad. Mine would heat up for about 60 seconds then stop heating. When it would get hot it would shortout and stop warming. Could be the samething, but if doesnt get hot at all. I am guess you have a bad ground.

Goodluck, I will keep an eye on this post to see if I can offer any more help.

take off the fuel pressure safety switch, or just put the wires on it together, make sure youre at 800+ psi and that kit will fly. put a gage on the fuel rail and run it between the hood and the rubber gasket on back of hood and keep an eye on fuel pressure while you flog it through the gears. just make sure you have good gas and maintain atleast 50 psi through 3rd and 4th, thats where youre engine load will take place. i have had 2 of these kits and both needed to be f**ked with a little bit.

my 5177 kit is good for about one second reduction in 1/4 mile ET.

so im very pleased with it.

I adjusted the nozzles and pointed them away from the MAF. I also lowered the shot to 85. I no longer hear the detonation like i did with the 100 shot, but i dont know if its still doing it silently. I also got a 160 degree Thermo but i dont have anything to tell the fans to turn on earlier

I have a 100 shot, pressure at 1100psi first gear is usless. Tires just spin. I have mine cut in at 3000rpm but just got new pills to kick it in at 4400 rpm.
