I might be getting a 91 rs with a 396 in it from some one I know from school. Im getting it for a good price but the main problem is it has no rear end or drive shaft.

My question is what rear end and drive shaft should I go with? The engine is modded pretty well and has about 450whp (not 100% sure) the tranny is a turbo 400 so it should be fine. I just want to match the best parts that I can with the T400. Does anyone have an idea of what rear end I should get?

Another thing is I have no clue at all what the code names and abreviations for parts are since if I get this camaro it will only be my 2nd and the 1st one that I would actually work on. I also don't know don't know squat about trannys, drive shafts and rear ends.

Im more of a engine kind of guy. I get a lot of power and if something breaks it breaks. But I'd want to do this car the right way. Not bs it like I did with all my other cars.

Thanks

because of the high amount of horsepower... pick up a 9" or 12 bolt.. The lightest I would go with would be a dana 44..

Yep; the usual options should be good since you're wanting to do it right.

Nevermind the 396 baby big block. Now Im getting a 454 real big block. But Im still going to have to get a rear end and drive shaft. I will be getting a turbo 350 for this car. Its going to have a little less power than the 396 but its going to be a stock engine not modded to hell like the 396. Heres the link to my other thread.
