View Full Version : Sony Digital Camcorder
This is a barely used Sony dcr-trv140 digital camcorder. I bought it about 1 1/2 years ago, but haven't used it much. It comes with a leather case, and a extra battery. The extra battery is a upgrade then the one that comes with it new. It comes with blank tapes for recording. I'm asking $300 shipped.
I have pics. Please email me at JFoty@earthlink.net or pm me for pics. I would put them up here, but i can't find a site to host them.
Thanks
Joey

Difference?
Well, in terms of recording, both MiniDV and D8 record using DV25 and are identical:cool:
However, since D8 tape is a larger media, it's less susceptible to noise and dropouts than the smaller MiniDV:)
I actually prefer D8 over the newer MiniDV format for long storage:cool:
Unfortunately, D8 camcorders are now considered obsolete:(
In fact, there are only two D8 models available today in a sea of MiniDV, MicroDV and DVD cams and both are considered bottom of the barrel compared to the older high end D8 cams:\
It's gotten to the point that the only reason why someone would buy a D8 cam is if they have an existing library of 8mm, Hi8 and D8 tapes that they would like to view/edit:dunno:
However, the problem with the TRV-140 is that it will only play 8mm tapes that have been recorded in D8 format:\
So if you had some old tapes that were recorded on a standard 8mm or Hi8 cam, they won't work on this model:(
You're asking a fair price FWIW, but I don't really have a need for another D8 at this time, especially one that won't play all the tapes I have from the late 80's and early 90's:\ (about 250 Hi8's)

Well thanks for the information. If you know of anyone in the market for one let me know. I need to get this thing off my hands. Any suggestions.
