OK After reading this thread http://www.ls2.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2731&perpage=15&pagenumber=2
And the link that JRP posted, I went down to the bottom of the page, and saw the stock cam spec's for the f-body years, they are as follows:
Stock Cam specs as spec'd by Comps:

stock 98-00
duration@.050 198.86 intake 209.25 exhaust
lift .498 intake .497 exhaust
LSA 119.45

stock 01-02
duration@.050 196.37 intake 208.72 exhaust
lift .464 intake .479 exhaust
LSA 115.92
Now why is the 98-00 have bigger intake/exh with more lift, and higher lsa, but yet a 01-02 dynos higher? I mean is the LS6 intake, and the freer exhaust really makign that much difference? You would think that the bigger is better?

The tighter LSA on the 01-02 help out a lot with scavenging...in combination with the freeing flowing exhaust manifolds and exhaust, that helped a lot with the HP numbers. Opening up the exhaust and intake in combination with the change in the cam helped out significantly, but it really was only a 10 -15 increase, maybe even less than that. - Patrick :D

the small cam also helped with emissions, the 01 and 02 cars do not have EGR like the rest do. The previous years larger cams would not have passed with the EGR removed.

:werd: to patrick and killer :), and no swapping on a 98-00 cam into a 01+ is not worth it for those who might be thinking about it ;)

The one BIG reason the '01-'02s make more power (and it's more than the 5 advertised hp as evidenced by dyno results) is the fact that the '01 and newer heads flow better.

All things being equal, the truck cam they used in the 2001+ will make less power, not more.
