You could go to a junk yard and find a stripper(that may be the hard part) and pull all of the parts, handles, gears etc.
And you should not have to big of a project on your hands.

And no stripper comments;)
You guys know what I was referring too :D

Killer, think i will call aroung to the dealer's and get a price for part,s and see how much they want for labor, power window's are a pain in the a$$. they were on the preferred equipment group so i got stuck with them:(

Bluez,
IMPO in the long run and hassle of change out. I think you would be better to stay with the power windows.
While true they are a weak point from Gm,
the aftermarket ones from AutoZone have a life time warranty
and are not that bad to change out. Constrictor has a nice write up on his site on how to do it.

I am sure we will here very soon. :)

If it's that much of a pain to change out I guess i will stay with the power window's. I hope they last a long time

If they don't it isn't that big of deal. Just go to autozone and buy one. Aftermarket motors are so much better and will last much longer as well. :)

If you are serious about swapping to manual windows look for someone parting out a wrecked car. You'll need cranks, door panels, and the regulators.

The initial first replacement of a power window motor can be a big pain in the ass. You have to kinda drill around in certain areas to find the rivets you have to drill out. Once you get those rivets drilled out the new window motor goes in with bolts which make replacements after that easy as pie.

The window motor at AutoZone that is 49.99$ and has a lifetime warranty is Part # WL42014 . That part # will actually be listed under corvette on their computer system.

You can do a window motor in 1/2 hour if you know what your doing.. Constrictor did a very good write-up about a year ago so check his site for some really detailed instructions.

A window regulator is expensive. You'd be cheaper buying window motors..

Don't you have a warrenty?

Constrictor's Write Up (http://www.metalreviewcentre.com/window.htm)

Another Write Up (http://shbox.com/page/windowmotor.html)

It may take a few times to drill out the holes to expose the rivets, but just take your time and eventually you'll know what rivets to drill out. I printed some of the pictures for reference, and tried to match up the holes I needed to drill as best as I could. Luckily, I got all the holes on the first try. :) It'll take some fiddling to properly line up the new motor, but very do-able. Just follow the instructions, and take your time.

just be careful with the tint on your windows, took mine to the dealer to get the windos motor replaced and when i got in the car the windows did not match. one window was darker than the other.

sounds like the dealer swapped your window too ;)

... i did a window motor today, in a virgin 2000 firebird, and it took about 1 hour, with drilling.

it was nice to have my car apart, to get a exact information of where to drill.

I used 5/16" drill bits, wasn't easy to work, but the door is still solid.

My car is look soike swiss cheese, with 1/2" holes everywhere.

Here is the write up from Constrictor

I have a 2000 and my power windows still work fine. I know they will eventually go out but mine are almost 5 years old and still work good. I would say stick with power.
