mba shifter question

i got an mba shifter with the automatic adapter , i was wondering if without the adapter will it work on a standard shifter :confused:

The knob should have the same thread size to fit the adapter or a m6 shifter, I wouldn't think they'd set up tooling to do two different knobs when making the adapter to fit existing knobs would be easier.
