....looking to get an exhaust this summer for the C5...narrowed it down to the two most debatable: The SLP Loudmouth, and the Borla Stingers. I'd like to know which one to go with, as I've listened to both, and someone posted a link to a Z06 with the SLP's and it souded   ...but the Borlas sound good too.....so i'm :dunno:...which do you guys think sounds better? ALSO....was wondering if any of those are 3" systems......I cant see having a vette with a 2 1/4" exhaust....

Borla all the way.

Supporting SLP should be a bannable offense along with a public hanging.

I know most guys dont like interior resonance....but i kinda do....i'm used to it on my 86 TA with a 3" flowmaster, random tech cat, and a Crane camshaft....so i dont mind ultra loud as long as its mean sounding and deep....friends tell me they can hear me IN CLASSROOMS across campus as soon as i get to school with my TA....

...anyone know the diameter of the pipes of either the Borla or SLP systems?

Anyone else??

pretty sure they are almost the same diameter just that the loudmouth doesnt have mufflers and the loudmouth tips suck!

So what size are the intermediate pipes? 3"?? Yea, i saw the loudmouth tips, but that can be fixed with a set of MEGS tips:D Any more opinions on which is preferred?

How about a 3rd option - B&B Bullets. A little louder and deeper than the Borla Stingers and they look great.

If you want really loud then get the Loudmouth, if not then get Borla's.

I've heard both and, in my opinion, the Stinger exhaust is plenty loud and sounds more "appropriate" for a Corvette.

There's a difference between having a loud exhaust and just making noise and I think that's the difference between the Stinger and the LM systems.

Stingers all the way. Now you just got to decide quad or dual.

I had Borla stingers, and was very happy with them until I installed longtube headers. With longtubes, the stingers were a bit much for me. However, with the stock manifolds/cats, the stingers sound perfect- nice rumble, not much louder than stock at cruise, and they sound evil at WOT.

A lot of people run headers with stingers and love it- just be warned that if you end up doing that combo, you better like it LOUD.

So SLP isn't as loud/deep as Borla?

I plan on installiing headers doing the cam/heads also....but i do LOVE IT LOUD...like i said, my Trams Am (86) has a cam, intake and a random tech cat with a 3" flowmaster system....its got interior resonance to spare....so I dont mind that at all. Just as long as it sounds PISSED OFF :D :drive:

Anyone know what size these systems are? Are they 3"

I see.....so the Stinger gives a sound thats more of what you'd expect from a Corvette? Like.....that sound/tone "fits" the car?

I mean, I want LOUD AS SHIT, but MEAN and DEEP too....

Hmmm.....just listened to both the SLP and the Borla....both sound nice to me....REAL nice.....the SLP was on a Z06 that was parked in a driveway, so I didnt hear it taking off like the Borla.....Borla sounds nice though.....still a tough choice....

Well I've heard the clip of the Borlas, and my bf has the SLP loudmouth, and I can't explain why but the SLP just sounds meaner... I can hear him a mile away just gettin on it a LITTLE... his sounds mean and when people hear him start it up or take off, they are definitely intimidated... I love the SLP but there is definitely resignation... if you want it LOUD then I would say SLP because that clip is definitely not holding a candle to the SLP growl...

How would you describe the SLP vs. Borla sound? Is it really deep and bassy? Or is the Borla more like that?

I think the Borla sounds weak compared to the SLP. The SLP is LOUD, it definitely is an attention grabber. Everyone around here LOVES Jons exhaust. He tried Borlas with his vette and sent them back. The SLP is deep and loud, when you hit it, it screams. I've never heard a louder better sounding exhaust except maybe when his bro cut the 03 Cobra Exhaust but thats not an aftermarket product, this is, SLP refines the sound of no exhaust, but makes it louder... I love it, If I had a vette I would choose SLP, I am thinking about the SLP for my stang because my flows are too quiet.

you're welcome, if you would like to talk to my bf I can give you his SN on AIM or his email adress, he's on CorvetteForum.com a lot and LS1TECH.com . He can tell you, oh and BTW, taking off your stock exhaust is going to be a bitch unless you take it to a shop and put it up in the air, i pulled that darn thing off his car cause all the boys were exhausted from trying to get it off. It was so cool, everyone shouted when I pulled it off finally, :D . I felt so proud! We had that thing jakced up on cender blocks and crap, it was so hard and scary! But it was worth it because those SLPs sound evil!

I think I already made up my mind:thumbup: I just listened to a Borla and an SLP soundclip...both on Z06's....and the SLP is waaaaaaay more evil sounding which is what I really want  But thanks for the offer;) I definetly will have a shop do it, not myself....have you heard of Mufflex in Trenton, NJ? I've been there before...i'd let them handle the work:D I wouldnt mind a set of high-flow cats and long tube headers while i'm at it:D At that point, i think i'd wake the dead :drive:

I bought the Borla Stingers 4 weeks ago and could not stand the drone at 1300 - 1600 RPM or in a 6 speed 55 to 75 mph. I loved the local cruising sound but that highway drone was to much for me so I returned them after 3 weeks to the place I bought them since they advertised garanteed satisifaction or money back. Their add said no resonance with the Stingers. That may be so on an automatic but not my 6 speed. I was awful. I was looking for the 60's muscle sound not a hole in the muffler sound when on the highway. I swear it sounded just like when I was a kid a punched a hole in my pontiac tempest muffler for some sound. But oh that full throttle sound and tops off local cruising was nice. :(

I know most people arent looking for the interior resonance....but I myself, dont mind it.....my 86 TA has it bad, and i actually like it....so interior resonance doesnt matter to me
